Got an E-Mail this evening.

Says they may discharge if the hammer is partially cocked under "certain conditions". I don't own one, but if you do contact them. They say will be fixed in the order they are received and will also enhance the trigger pull.

I haven't seen that yet, and just purchased a H015Y-20 back in June.

Thank you for the alert ... will definitely contact Henry.

^I thought that might be you.

I applied for the return shipping label last night. Will be interesting to see (assuming they confirm the return) whether, when it comes back, that release lever is tightened up. The recall notice cites the hammer being "partially cocked" - so presumably that sliding bar safety is involved?

Just to follow-up: Henry sent a shipping label today for the return.

If you get a chance...maybe a review when it's all said and done?

My experience with them was excellent. I lost the O-ring on the inner mag tube, it was a micro tad larger than it should have been and kept sliding down every time I removed the tube, and I finally lost it at the range. I also felt the spring felt weak. The rep told me it shouldn't be too strong and since there was no feeding problem to let them know if feeding became an issue. Just didn't feel right to me, but I agreed to keep it as is, but I wanted another ring. They not only sent several rings, but another rod. No charge. They under promised and over delivered. About a week turn around.

Just received an email from Henry saying the shotgun's recall work/upgrade has been completed and will be shipped out for return (no tracking yet).

So arrived on the 13th, work done by the 18th.

Will update again when it arrives and I have a chance to test it out.

That is a quicker turn around that I would have expected. Lucky Gazoo.

Coincidentally, today I also got word that the Cimarron 1875 Remington that I ordered online on Wednesday (order "went through" the website) is actually not available.

Score: :) 1 :(1

The shotgun (Henry 20-ga single shot, youth) arrived a few minutes ago! Total turnaround from pick-up here to return was 12 days inclusive. For those interested:

  • As they advertised, the trigger guard has the dimple (see: https://www.henryusa.com/recall/) indicating the repair & upgrade.
  • The shotgun had been fired (I'd cleaned it before shipping, but I can smell and see residue in the barrel) - so they clearly tested this out with live fire.
  • With the hammer back, there is no creep at all in the trigger; it has a very light*, crisp break. I haven't fired it myself, yet (the day is still young), but did dry fire a few times. The hammer spring seems a bit more taut, but hard to say - I'd only had the gun a few weeks, really, and fired perhaps twenty shells through so I can't asseverate much by way of muscle memory.
And @lasttombstone will be interested to read that the release lever is significantly more resilient; nowhere near as loose as before.

Oh, and c.f. above I found another Cimarron "Outlaw" 1875 Remington at Budsgunshop (that evening, the website had "less than four remaining" - next morning, gone) that should arrive at FFL next Tuesday: so hopefully a "New Gun Day" post to celebrate next week in the Corral.

PS * I should add, light/crisp to me. That being said, I have only used factory triggers so I have no frame of reference for trigger jobs and very light pulls. I don't want to be taken as suggesting this is some match-grade, sniper-cool trigger now.
