Easter weekend of 1995, my dad's very large gun safe was stolen from my parent's home in Concord. The theives did $7000 damage (1995 dollars) to the house getting it out. The empty safe, having been cut open with an abrasive saw, was found by a farmer in one of his fields near Pageland, SC.
Twenty years later, this happened: Pageland Man Arrested
The Cabarrus County Sheriff's department claims to be working with Chesterfield County LE and SLED on this case, and they have contacted my mom regularly to make sure they had accurate contact info, but they aren't helpful beyond that. The last I heard, all those thousands of guns were still piled up in the armory in Chesterfield. I suspect that some, or most, of my dad's guns are in the pile.
This was a traumatic event for my family, especially for my dad, of course; and really turned me off of owning guns, or anything else of significant value, for 20 years or so. I really didn't get back into firearms until just before I joined up with you other miscreants.
Do any of you folks (@kcult , @BatteryOaksBilly ) have any info on this case? Does anybody know any Chesterfield LE or SLED personnel that could shed some light on the disposition of these guns?
If my dad's guns are in there, they are probably rusty, beat-up hulks; but I want them back anyway.
