If I can sell a couple things I am thinking of buying an HK P30l. Or maybe an HK45. Any opinions? I used to have a PPQ and PPS, but have pretty much settled on hammer fired guns. For some reason the strikers don't thrill me. So I have a couple CZ's for daily carry, and some 1911's for OWB or special occassions. But I really don't have a polymer, beat the crap out of me gun with a rail that can handle a light. Seems that is something I should own. The idea of HK reliability and a hammer fired gun sounds good to me. Probably going for a full sized gun for OWB open carry or home defense situations. The only downsides are price and possible trigger issues compared to my current guns.

Fire away with feedback or other suggestions.

I have a P30 a VP9 and a 45 tactical. They are all great shooters, but I have been gravitating back to CZs lately, have you looked at the sphinx?

Had one and didn't like it. Not a fan of H&K ergos, and the trigger wasn't bad, but it's nothing special, either... for the price point, I expected better. Apparently the LEM trigger is the heat, but I haven't tried it.

For polymer, railed, hammer-fired... if you can find them I'd go for a Sig SP2022 and try to get an SRT installed on it. But that's just me.

I had a Sig Legion and it just didn't fit my paws well. Shot it poorly. I shoot my little CZ Rami better than I could shoot the 226 Legion. Weird, but I finally just sold it off. If I go HK I think I'd go LEM trigger with the lighter pull. Think it is about 4.5 lbs.

Sphinx might be an opiton, but something about the durability of the HK's got me going. I could go CZ P-07 and have it cajunized, but was trying for more of a fullsize gun. The P09 doesn't thrill me. Could just go SP-01 but with metal it is pretty heavy. But for the price of the HK's it is tempting to just buy 2 decent striker fired guns. I could get a 45 and a 9!

I have a lem P2000sk in 40s&w. It used to be my edc but over time, I moved toward 9mm and single stack. I still love it but to be honest I haven't shot it in probably 2 years. Now HK products don't impress me as much as they used to.

Doesn't feel warm and fuzzy in my paw. Damn hard to get mags. Just didn't click, but maybe I'll go handle one again. Things change. I think cgw has a few for sale on their site. Night sights and the defensive carry package would probably be good. I have heard they shoot very well.

Don't have the P-01, but I do have a CZ Custom Protek 1. Basically same frame without the rail. That is my main EDC. Love it.

I put a P30 and an HK45 in my hand today. Someone please talk me off the ledge. Not sure my budget can handle my desires. I think the HK45 caused a little movement in my nether regions.

Not a big fan of hk pistols, they just are not my thing. It's someting about the ergo's, but to each there own.

Don't do it!!!

Give the P2000 a chance. Iffn I was going to have another HK, that would be the one.

If you're cardiac colt on the old board. I bought your PPQ a while back.

I've got a P30L that I'm happy to loan you. I think it needs "breaking in". I had a few FTE's with 115grain cheap stuff.

Your welcome to shoot it for a while if you use some 124 NATO ammo.

PM me if you're interested.

I'll let you know on that. How does the P30L shoot other than the few hiccups?

Hope the PPQ is still going strong.

it shoots great! way more accurate than me. I have the LEM trigger. honestly I shoot my VP9 better. I've had the standard da/sa as well. HK triggers aren't really the best ever. reset is a little longer than most. I think it's everything else besides the trigger (other than the VP9) that makes me like them.

I was on the CZ site last night as I am still unsure which way to go. I don't really have a built like a tank gun that I could wear OWB, beat the snot out of and not worry about scratches. I know that screams Glock, but I am not a huge striker fireed guy, and someone has to buy stuff other than Glock right? Was thinking maybe just go with a CZ SP-01. They are heavy, but with some CGW parts have excellent triggers. But the HK 45 is still tempting too. I'm going to surf the web and fondle guns until something stands out. Luckily I have no huge need. I have good guns for range accuracy so maybe a perfect trigger isn't a big deal. As long as it works every time.

I think the HK45 is THE best polymer-framed .45 on the market. The rest of HK, I can take or leave (I have had a couple USPs, found them to be a solid 'OK' for me).

So maybe I should just suck it up and go HK45 Tactical. But I sure could afford to shoot 9mm more.

I just got rid of 2 HK full size USPS they acted as 2 go to SHTF weapons....why? I have moved to SiG 226/229 in favor, I too am a fan of hammer but in metal frames as well, Legion and/or all stainless (frame as well) Elite sigs handle so well that I couldn't justify keeping the HKs

I want to like HK's, but aside from the dreamy squeeze cockers and the VP9, I have never shot one I liked or wanted.

Over priced and pointless for what I like to do. The only HK weapon I have ever seen in competition is a VP9.
Just my opinion.

I bought a Sig 226 Legion SAO last year. Loved everything about that gun except for the fact it turned my normal mediocre shooting into poor shooting. Others could shoot it perfectly, but not me. Other than something in the ergonomics department I have no clue why. Sig would solve my problem if I thought I could shoot them decently. Maybe it needed more time, but with CZ's and 1911's I didn't need to work that hard at it.

I really like the VP9. I shoot it very well and it carries as easy as a G19 If you are a CZ guy may i suggest a Tanfoglio witness match in 45. I have one and it is a fantastic shooter.

Kinda looking for a out in the woods and shoot wild animals and meth addicts type gun. Or a shoot zombies while running through the mud gun. Not so much a target gun.

Well. You asked for opinions. So here we go. I have owned the p30, p30L, p30S (sub compact), vp9 and multiple variants of the USP line. All of the H$K shoot well and are more accurate than my capabilities would suggest. I really like H $K products except when I buy accessories like magazines, sights etc...... when you commit to the buy in for this brand, you commit to outlay more money at every juncture. I think H$K as something that is unique. I am a bit "special" (like someone who needs a safe space) sometimes. I have a few firearms brands that I really like in current production. H$K, Sig Sauer, Glock, CZ, Berreta M9A3. You have to ask yourself if you are happy with the price tag of an H$K. I am certain you will be happy with their quality.

Ok guys. I have heeded some of you. I really have an itch for the HK45, but I'll hold off on that for now. I have made a decision and went the safe and predictable route...drum roll please....

It will have the same CZ Custom action job my EDC gun does so for practice and training it should be great. Plus it has a light rail and will fit my hand like a glove. The 18 round mags won't bother me at all either. I'll probably have to save some sheckels for extra mags, a light and maybe a Chief Jason OWB rig of some kind to carry it in eventually. But I'll either have to sell my rifle in the classifieds or recover from the Obama economy and Christmas first.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I'll post a pic of an HK45 at some point. Maybe. Hopefully.

These things crack me up. As far as I can tell the only this it tells me is the guy that test fired my gun is a much better shot than I am. I'll probably need to shoot at 5' to match that target.
