Run this to ground...this is a SINGLE staff position within the DDR on the UN staff at UN HQS in New York City. Actual job link is posted below...this is a pre-existing position on UN Staff that is vacant and needs filled, nothing more, no tinfoil here. I do think it is funny that they have labeled New York as a "hardship" location...

thanks for this. I am not usually one to xpost without chasing it down and I did exactly that. (post first, check later). I fell asleep early last evening and woke up about 11 and could not go back to sleep. not an excuse. just a nice jab at myself, since I really hate reactionary uninformed posts that make us all look like dummies. good job.

Office of Rule of Law and Security Institutions (OROLSI) was established in 2007 to strengthen the links and coordinate the Department’s activities in the areas of police, justice and corrections, mine action and weapons/ammunition management, the disarmament, demobilization and reintegration of ex-combatants and security sector reform. Likely because it would be hardship status to live in NY on what the job pays.

Many of their positions do not require it so that may be the reason for hardship in that this one does.

My former boss's husband works for the UN investigating war crimes, human trafficking, and the like. He spends a lot of time in 3rd world countries, a little time in NY and DC, but he lives right here in NC.

I think the tinfoil was too tight on the noggin

With a job title like that maybe it's a good idea to write up a little better job description. lol In typical "Gov" fashion it seems you have to go to 4 places to get a full description of what the job actually is. And they even vary the title enough to screw with the meaning.

Or they are just trying to sucker some unsuspecting soul into accepting a crap job like everybody else out here.
