Looking for advice for a 110v AC winch or hoist for an elevator platform in my barn.
I've built a 4' x 4' platform, which will ride on a guided track. The platform will need to lift 14' to the second floor of my barn.
Lift capacity would need to be around 800# max.
I'm looking at the winch in the link below, but no nothing of the brand. It has a fall break, but not sure that I would trust it, so this adds the cost of a fall-stop device that's
almost as much as the winch. About $1k total investment.
The major plus to this winch is the wireless remote....perfect for my application!
The price is getting close to a "used" chain type hoist, which likely would not need the fall protection.
Also looked at the Champion 880# AC winch, which would work, but has a wired remote.

Is anybody familiar with this brand of winch? (Prowinch)
Advice on a different setup?

Yep...me, and whatever I'm taking up or bringing down. Only time the platform would be unoccupied is when I'm bringing it down from it's upper resting point.

Found this one this morning. Has the wireless remote, but no mention of an automatic brake, but does have an emergency stop button on the remote.
I calculated the weight of the platform with me on it at 364#. This winch is rated at 660# with double cable setup.
I doubt that I'd ever be adding anywhere near 356# of cargo.

Link goes to 404 error, but product search worked.
This one?

The gf dad has this in his shop. While it's not used like you are going to use it. I did use it as a double line with a snatch block to install a 1500lb welding bed on a friend's truck. And it's a warn

I hadn't been able to find a Warn AC powered, thanks for the link!
The only issue I have with that one is the wired remote with a 6' lead. This would require me to mount the winch to the platform, and leave the platform in the down position when not in use.
Not a major issue, but not ideal.
I could lengthen the remote wiring.

Pic shows why a wireless remote would be ideal. I could easily put the platform at the top and let it stay there out of the way.

His has a 15ft wired remote. Not sure where he got it. But it looks the same as the original

@Snal~ Are you going to have a ladder also for access to the loft?
Or are you going to be stuck there if the power goes out?

Gonna be stuck if the platform is parked at the top, otherwise access by extension ladder.
Thinking ahead (for once) I did have the framer frame for a window on both ends of the loft. The header for those windows is at door height, so I can easily change those window openings to door
openings if I want to add exterior steps and landing to gain access to the loft.

Gravity, man, gravity. He will always be able to get down without power.

You could add a fireman's pole to get down quicker and leave the lift in the up position.

With something like this overkill is always better.
Overkill is good, but those wired remotes would require a hole in the platform floor large enough for the remote to pass through, and allow me to send the platform up and park it.
Otherwise the remote cable would not clear the hole in the attic floor and allow the platform to semi-seal that big hole. Major heat loss when trying to keep the shop warm in winter.

The warn remote should have about a 3/4 plug on the winch end

Still need to have the remote in hand when in use, and the cable can't come up the outside of the platform or it'll get pinched when I reach the top.

Point be its a 3/4 hole and not a 2x2 or bigger

But it has to be big enough for the remote to pass through, unless I mount the winch to the platform to gain access to the plug, instead of the winch being 20' away in the attic. Can't do that with an AC powered winch without having to deal with the AC power cord also getting in the way.
