A ball of bees can be intimidating, but typically they are very docile when they are in this state. They have no hive to protect and typicaly have just gorged themselves on honey before they left the hive. Time is of the essence, they may stay there an hour, or a day, just depends how fast the scouts can find a suitable home for them to move into.
