The car thermometer hit 100* today on the way to Raeford about 3 pm....in my little wooded lot it's only hit 90* so far.

I hate to think what's going to happen in a couple of months.

PS I've owned this car over 10 years and it's never said 100*.

One thing I didn't consider when laying out my make-shift pistol range was that the air doesn't move down in the "hollar". I felt like I was in a sauna today. :(

The good news is it's only gonna get hotter this season.

Box fan, real long extension cord.

Actually, I did exactly that last year. I have a really serious exhaust fan and a 100' extension cord that just barely reaches the nearest outlet. I was just too lazy to do it today but won't make that mistake again.

OMG, we had the same thought!

(Not sure if that's good or bad.....it probably ain't good....lol.)

A monk asked Tozan “How can we escape the cold and heat?”

Tozan replied, “Why not go where there is no cold and heat?”

“Is there such a place?” the monk asked.

Tozan commented, “When cold, be thoroughly cold; when hot, be hot through and through.”

Tomorrow, I will be hot through and through shooting my little 9mm pistol with my friends at Deep River.

I'd be cheering you on, but I think I'm going to another match. All these different ones are getting confusing....
Be safe and have fun...and think cool thoughts, maybe that'll help with the heat.

Supposed to be in the mid 90's when we shoot our highpower rifle match tomorrow. Try putting on a long sleeve shirt, sweatshirt and then a heavy shooting jacket ;)

I know nothing about rifles and/or shooting rifles, but why so many clothes?? Y'all are going to have heat stroke!

Just starting to get nice out.. My bones don't hurt, as much..
I'm happy you think this is "nice" weather.....I'm happy for your "old" bones...as I sit in the AC praying for winter again! LoL. Sorry!
What have you done to yourself, you're a young person!

50 with the body of a 95 year old.
I managed to get run over during a pitstop in 2002, I'm junk..

Unfortunately, I read somewhere that it was going to be any usually hot summer. I didn't consult the Farmer's Almanac though.

I once fell off a race hauler lift gate from 10+ feet up onto pavement, so I feel some of your pain. No idea how I didn't break anything but I hurt like a SOB for a week or more.

I've never fallen off a lift gate but I sure have seen it along with the odd car getting dumped off.. Add a little moisture to the diamond plate and another crew member not paying attention, suprised it doesn't happen more often..
Open wheel cars are a breeze compared to sedans for loading and unloading.. :)

Nothing that serious but I tried to show my daughter how to use the slip n slide when she was 6-7. When you trip and go full on super man hitting man boobs first and feel every organ in your body compress it's not good. I hurt for 5-6 days.

Yes, it was sedans. And no, having survived it once I wont make that mistake again- stopped going to the track in any event.

Did a bunch of planting in the yard this morning. It got hotter and hotter .
It’s 86* now.
Doesn’t feel to bad now that we’ve stopped and sitting in the shade enjoying our handy work.

Many years ago I was at a pistol match with a bunch of marines from Charleston Navy Station. One, a Captain at the time was named Wes Martin was what a poster of a Marine might look like. I said...Captain, how come none of your folks or you are sweating. It's miserable here. [middle of August. match in Wilmington]
He took me over to his truck and introduced me to The Marine Radiator. A ziplock bag with crushed ice under your cap. He explained that the top of your head is where the vessels are least covered and so if you got the flow coming through there cool, the rest would take care of itself.
It works, try it. The Marine Radiator...indeed.

man, we learned that "cooler trick" in the Boy Scouts waaaay back in the day.

I'll just drop this here

At least y'all are dodging tornadoes

Supposed to be upper 90’s in Pinehurst by mid week here. It’s getting so dry the trees are bribing the dogs.

I'm going to try that!

.....i saw a dog peeing on the fire hydrant in front of my house.......there was steam coming from it. Its HOT!

I took my daughter, SIL and grandson on the boat today. When we got back to the dock I sent them to the pool and I cleaned the boat. I have been boating for 50 years and really do not remember when I was that hot. Under the hose about every 5 minutes. Really not healthy. Was going to wait until Monday to take the boat out of the water but looked around and saw maybe 100 empty trailers at the yacht club. It is going to a mess at the wash station in the next couple of days. Temp at the docks was 100.

UPDATE: 11 PM news just said it was 102 today

Bring on the heat. I spent 10 years on airborne status & am an orthopedic wreck. Neck, back, knees & one ankle are shot, courtesy of Uncle Sam & arthritis in both hands, I guess from continuing to wake up every day.

I don't do cold well. Once I get cold, that mess gets into my bones & aches & gnaws on 'em. I'll take the heat any day.
