How do you mount one of these on an AR pistol when it does not have a channel for the tab to go in? What other options are out there when the buffer tube does not have a channel?

I did that to one but the mounting point did not seem very sturdy. Might have to try that again,

Dremel works as long as it isn't a flat plate. Needs the rim to mate up with the recess in the lower keep it in place. Some of the cheaper ones don't have it and won't work for your purpose.
