Theres always blood in the streets... people have blood in them duh!

I'm hopeful that this becomes reality...

I am with jkupp on this one. Can't see them giving up money. Sure they don't need it, but it's good easy money to file a paper.

It will be awesome when I'm getting into a drunken gunfight because of the CHP not to hurt my ears!

For all the ones waiting on buying one why wait? jkupp2000 makes the process stupid easy. If it passes you'll get your money back so what would you lose? Do ittttttttttt!

There's no guarantee anybody is getting their $200 back. Plus, I don't even have a host that doesn't have a dedicated can at this point, so no rush at all.

So the rest of us are at least 30 behind you. I've seen your range day. The point I'm trying to make is for those who say they're waiting on HPA to order their first surpressor should go ahead and do it now.

I'd love to order one...but I don't have the money right now. If this becomes a reality, prices should normalize lower after the initial rush. Here's to hoping...

If nothing happens or it fails, I'll start the process later in '17.

Might actually mean I get one! I'd love on for my .223, damn thing is loud.

I don't need any more friends...but the ones I have are welcome to use my cans anytime they want to go shooting :p

My post was simply to say the $200 is a big deal for some people. If HPA passes in the next 9 months, you'd get the can just as fast by waiting, and not paying for the tax stamp. The bill currently has wording that either refunds the $200, or gives you a $200 tax credit (still not sure what it really means)...but there's no guarantee it isn't used as a bargaining chip during discussions.

If you think waiting and grabbing one after it passes, good luck. Wait times suck now. Just imagine what it will be like when every dealer in America can buy and sell them. Inventory will dry up faster then Death Valley in the summer and prices will be msrp or higher due to the demand. Sure it will bottom out and look like the ar market currently is but that may take 1-3 years and would put use into the next election cycle which won't help as I'm sure there will be blood in the streets.

I'm cool with waiting. Even if it's a couple years. I don't need anything else. I will wait until the $99 cans hit the streets...

Same here, I've played the silly NFA game and have what I need. If they are deregulated and ultimately drop in price I'd likely buy several and turn a few guns into dedicated set ups.

However deregulation happens it needs to be in a manner that prevents future anti- administrations from undoing it without a lengthy process.

Amen to that.

I'll just keep buying cans before and after (if) it passes. In the end I'm waiting either way, if it takes another year, I'll have 5 more cans so why not just go for it? :)

The preemption of state laws paragraph? Simply means the state can't add their own requirements on top of the federal. No tax, registration or record keeping.

It says using, possessin, transporting ... so does that mean the 8 "no fun" states are okay as long as you can say legally buy a firearm? If that is it then the California crazies will have a meltdown.

IANAL...but that's how I'd read it.

What I was thinking but I ain't a lawyer nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express so I asked. Now if we are correct can you just see those idiots in Sacramento from Goobernor Jerry Brown down thru their state legislature going bat guano crazy since they just got finished passing all those new common sense gun laws like Prop 63.

Hi guys, came over from the other site. I've mostly been a lurker here in the NFA pages. I have a couple cans and hopefully in the next few weeks Scott will call and say my obsidian is out of jail, it's been 8 months now.

I've been reading since the first release of the HPA and have a couple questions in thinking out loud that I couldn't find direct answers to.

So if it should pass and the HPA takes suppressors off of the NFA registry, would a suppressor still remain a serialized (firearm-esk) part since the HPA would still require a NICS check as the bill states "silencers be treated as long guns" and a long gun is a serialized part. I guess I'm saying if it wasn't serialized, would there be a need for the NICS check? With no serial number how could/would they track them in a similar fashion as to how they do currently with the Forms 1, 4 etc. Seems like it would be an open field day on individuals making as many as they want and selling to others.

I bring this up as across several boards I've heard people say "I'll make my own" (when it passes). Would/could the HPA potentially get rid of the home maker or potentially require them to obtain a license (FFL/SOT) from the ATF for the production of a serialized part? How would the ATF know who's making a suppressor at home. Seems like this would make the current licenced manufactures pretty happy.

I'm not anti-HPA, just trying to figure it out. Yall seem nice enough to not vilify this question as some boards would.

It would still be a serialized item, and require a 4473...if you bought and existing one.

You could make your own, no problem...just like an 80% AR or an AK flat. If you make your own, and keep it, no SN should be required.

NFA items are different, which is why my six F1 cans all have a serial number assigned and engraved.

Hey Bigwaylon, only 6? haha From the pictures I've seen, I didn't think even your coughs made noises.

Ok yea I was wondering about whether or not it was similar to the 80%'rs good to go as long as you don't transfer to someone else.
Thanks,

PS how did that blast baffle for the Sico MSR mount come out?

The total collection is more than 6...but the rest are commercial cans. I do have a 7th F1 approved, from almost a year ago. It wasn't really something I needed, so I'm just waiting to see if the HPA passes and then I'll cancel it for a refund.

He blast baffle ran into some legal issues. Still letting the machinist decide if he wants to attempt it or not. Who knows, we may end up with a small "unadvertised" batch either way.

haha ok sounds good.

Ahh, I hate lawyers.

I'm ready for HPA to pass just found out my LGS is now carrying a better variety of cans.

tod0987 if you're looking for a large selection of silencers give me a shout I keep most of the popular stuff in stock and can get just about anything else in 24-48 hours.

Thanks for the offer JK! When my last can breaks free from ATF jail in the next month, I should be have all calibers covered but would like to eventually have dedicated cans on a few guns eventually as the gun fund allows.

What is promising is seeing the positive news articles written by some papers that tend to lean antigun.
