and my kids make sure of that.

We actually got showered and in bed by 7:34 last night. The sun was still up and man I was excited to get a little extra sleep, since I get up at 430am. Well, kids had different plans. 1 wakes up at 1145pm, banging on the door, “my head hurts” , which wakes the 1.5 year old up. Now we’ve got a Kid whining and a kid crying. This went on until 2 something.

I am dead today. I can’t wait until they’re older and want to sleep in on weekends. I’ve got plans for that! Muahahaha

Later in the day, drink a cup of coffee quickly, ice it if needed, then take a 20 minute nap. It will make you feel better. The combo of coffee and brief sleep is the key.

I used to sleep like a rock, any place, anytime with anything going on around me. Right up until my mid 20’s. Now I’m lucky to get 4 solid hours if that. The smallest thing will keep me awake, and the smallest thing seems to wake me up. I miss sleep... I used to be so good at it :D

There will be a window of time for a few years when they are a little older where you might get some peace. Then they will get driver's licenses ... and instead of banging on your door it will be calls and texts to tell you why they aren't home yet.

I know how you feel! We are going on almost 4 years of little to no sleep with these kids (oldest had serious sleep/breathing issues first 3 years) and I keep telling my wife that too. Just wait until they want to sleep in! Bullhorns, buckets of cold water, vacuum whatever it takes their butts are getting up! ;)

My kids are in HS and like their sleep. But they also like to hang out with us at night and talk or watch TV. And you don't want to just run them off but it does interfere with mom and dad time some. In other words, things don't change that much.

My oldest had sundown colic as a newborn. Wow was that miserable.

I used to make fun of my friend for going to bed at 8 and getting up at 4. I'm almost there, getting in bed around 9 and walking up between 4 and 4:30.

What kinda crap is that?
I dont mind getting up that early. I actually mind going to bed early more so. On weekends, Im up between 5-630. Its nice to get up, see the sun rise and get some stuff done while everyone is still asleep.

I didn't keep a link, but I recently read a study that said parents are basically sleep-deprived for 15-20 years.

I can believe it. Between kids and back pain, about 12 years ago it hit me that I might never have a decent, fully restful night sleep ever again.
