A few years ago, I had my 622 drilled and tapped for the original scope rail and I slapped a Holosun 507 on top. While I liked it, the combined height of the scope rail and the Holosun scope mount put the sight pretty high up top. It actually was a little difficult to acquire the dot quickly.

With the scope rail & Holosun... Kinda tall!

So I was surfin' the 'net and came across the Tandemkross Shadow mount for the Ruger MK and thought, "What are the chances that the bolt spacing for that Ruger mount is the same as the bolt spacing for my S&W?" So, I took a chance and order one.

Well, it turns out that the bolt spacing is exactly the same! YAY! I did, however, need to modify the mount very slightly. If you look at the original rail, you can see that it is milled a bit thinner over the slide to give it some extar clearance. The Tandemkross mount drags on the slide if you don't modify it. So I slapped it on my belt sander and clearanced the part that rides over the slide just a bit.

Here you can see the part I ground off to give enough clearance for the slide.

Money!!! Much lower to the bore axis. Much easier and more natural to acquire the dot.

I think it looks much better, too!

Kind of hard to take a picture of the Death Donut with a cell phone.

I'm super happy with how this turned out! Now I just need to Loctite all the screws and get to the range to zero it and have some fun!
