Now my first Glock, ~20 years ago was a gen2 23 and I hated it. I hated it so much I sold it pretty fast. It was absolute garbage compared to my USPc (also in .40)
My second glock was a gen3 17, maybe 5-10 years ago and I hated it. I hated it so much I sold it pretty fast. It was absolute garbage compared to my Walthers.

Well, a couple years back I was at a range and somebody offered to let me try their gen4. It didn't suck. I was surprised. it put a bug in my brain...

So a little while back I saw a police trade-in gen4 Glock 22. I think it was about $240 supposedly with non-glowing night sights. I'm the proverbial fool who can't hold on to his money. Right off the bat I was miffed about the false advertisement. the night sights glow just friggin fine. Anyway, I ordered a 31rd ETS mag for it... and then I also ordered a bear creek 9mm extended/threaded barrel. And alsoa 31rd mag for 9mm. and a few 17rd magazines for 9mm... I finally took it out for a test drive this afternoon. first a couple mags of .40, then another couple mags of 115gr 9mm... then I put on the suppressor and broke out the 147gr reman ammo ... and it worked beautifully. It shot straight (something my 92fs could never manage) and without any problems whatsoever.
At 10 yds and no muffs, the ringing of steel was like something from a symphony. A alegretto movement alternating between pianissimo and forte notes.

So gen2/3 are not for me... but gen4 or later could be a problem for my wallet.
I'm already buying WAY too many walthers, and slowly building up more berettas... I don't need to toss another brand in there, do I? I figured I'd get in to FN befor glock, but... but... I mean... for aftermarket parts, glock has everybody beat. I've always just thought that they're ugly and soulless and utilitarian to the bloody end... but now, maybe that's not so bad

Watch it, they are addictive.

I think I have a box of 40cal hollow points at the house...make ya a deal on them, don't have a 40. I'm in Fay too.

M&P police trades, then Rugers, then Berettas, then Glock, then a Roni, then Sigs, then FN and HK. It never ends....;)
If you’d turned your list upside down,

you could have eliminated most of ‘em. :D

So, I have to ask. What was the big difference for you from Gen-2/3, and the Gen-4? Reason I ask, is there's not that much a difference between them, and most people prefer the Gen-2/3 guns. Just wondering.

Gen 4 interchangeable back straps and the longer mag release are the two things that got me back into Glocks

Oh, I know the difference, I have Gen 2-4 guns myself. But those two things won't change a gun from garbage to "ooh, man, these are nice".

I still have a few hundred gold dots I picked up in ~2003 for probably 18c per. but keep talking...

Already too late his addicted not only to Glocks but supressors. WELCOME DOC
Oh, I've already got 3 suppressors with 2 in limbo. Started that habit back when MI made them "not illegal" back in 2011. yes they're another very bad habit. I'm thinking to start doing form 1 just for funsies. I'm sure all the fellas here in the form1 thread would be helpful...

I really don't know. I could NOT shoot the gen2/3 with a 2-hand grip as well as I could any of my other brands using even just a single-wrong-hand grip. Maybe I'm just a better shooter now and can "feel" my way to getting a pistol on target better. Whatever the difference, I can punch out and be pretty much on target now instead of way off like I was before.
And yes, I agree that a gen3 17 is an ideal TEOTWAWKI gun because it ran for so long and there are so many parts out there. When I get my garage in order, I'll be using my new drill press (still in the box) to probably make one of the gen3 compatible builds. And I'm interested in what PSA is working on with their glock clone.

For the sake of your wallet, I recommend not firing a 43X.

I don’t particularly like glocks. But I have 3 that won’t go away. They work. If going out of town, I can throw one in a bag and not worry about it.
If carrying, I can sweat on it, not clean it, etc.
Just easy to use and own and they do what they are supposed to do as well as any other gun.
And parts/holsters galore for cheap.
Just can’t beat them for what they are.

Sounds to me like a diagnosis of chronic gun fever. With ample ammo and regular acquisitions, you should live an otherwise normal life.

I too am not a fan boy of any one brand, caliber, design, time period or whatever. I just LOVE guns. All of them.

gun solo anyone?>>> @~1:40. Van Halen ain’t got squat on Steve Lee.

For me those things did. I carried a gen 3 22 for 10 years and when I upgraded to the gen 4 I immediately liked it better. So then after another 8 years I picked up another gen 3 Glock 22 for "nostalgia" after not touching a gen 3 for all that time. Shot the gen 3 in one match and between that fat grip and that tiny mag button I couldn't work with it at all. Took my sights back off and sold it that following Monday.

I went exclusively Glock for several years and I am getting back into 1911s as a hobby now but I can't say I like those as much as I did decades ago either.

I've owned lots of glocks, many of them G22s. The last one as a Gen 4. Didn't notice any difference between it and the other G22s. BTW My EDC for the last few years has been a gen 1 Walther PPS.

You are very fashionable. Mine are just plain jane shooters. I feel inadequate now.

If his Glocks make you feel inadequate, I hope you never see @NKD s beard! Especially if you're like me and at 50 still can't grow a full beard.

I have shot with him. So I know how inadequate my entire being is. :(

@NKD is how most middle aged men aspire to be. :D

Can't shoot a glock at all. They point to the sky when I try to aim the things. However I do own quite a few glock mags. They work great for me when not mounted in a grip.

Pick up a $90 Lone Wolf 9mm conversion barrel and a couple of $20 Magpul 9mm mags and you're practicing with cheaper ammo while retaining the ability to carry .40.

Then file SBR on the Glock and put it in the RONI SBR when tax stamp arrives. ;)

9mm conversion barrel from bear creek works great. the form 1 has been considered already.
I'll hold off on that until I pick up a gen 3 too :)
