I may be one of the few people

I feel your pain brother...I ride an elliptical machine everyday. Trying to wear it out.

I like bike machines a lot.
Id like to, eventually, get one of those trainers that you put the rear wheel in when using your 'real' bike.

I've got one of those. I hate it. Or any stationary bike for that matter. I'd rather ride for hours in a cold rain on my real bike. 20 minutes on a stationary bike feels like you've been on it for hours. If you're anywhere near Charlotte, you could get this trainer really cheap.

How much you thinking?

IDK. $50? I'll have to see if I can find the long skewer that goes with it. I've got a box of them in the garage.IMG_20180416_194911568.jpg

I used to have the same one. Was going really good for about 20 minutes when I noticed my bike seemed tilted. Just as I had that thought my rear wheel came out and I ended up crashing sideways in my house nearly hitting my head on the server in my dining room. My wife came running out of the other room at the commotion I had made and after making sure I was alright told me that I would have to start wearing my helmet indoors.
I gave that death trap away and decided to play in traffic instead. I didn't like that trainer anyways!

The bike we have is one of the cheaper ones that Academy sells. No frills, no electronics. I don't really have to to get out and ride. So I do about 18 minutes first thing in the morning then on to the rest of my stretching and light weight stuff. Seems to work well for me. On a good week I'll do it 4 times, wife about the same maybe more. Was going 5 times a week for a while but found out I need a bit more rest than that.

I was riding my trainer once, one of the few times I did, as my wife walked by the room. She peeked in and said, "Why aren't you pedalling"? I said, I'm coasting downhill right now".
Good for you for using yours. I just couldn't get over not going anywhere.

I have the trainer with two rollers that your bike sits on instead of being bolted in. I can't get the hang of balancing on it, so I have to pedal while hanging onto something. It's terrifying.

Those are rollers. Takes much more concentration to use those. You can have some pretty good crashes on them too.

For those who use rollers or the dreaded back wheel holding evilness of the trainer, I started doing a quick 30 to 40 minute interval workout to make the tedium more tolerable.

Warm up for 10 minutes with a high cadence spin.
Go full tilt for a minute on then rest a minute.
Do that as many times as you want and then spend 5 to 10 minutes spinning again to cool down.

It makes me suffer enough that the time goes by pretty fast.

I do a minute on the lowest tension, bump it up for a minute, back down, then crank it up and go hard for 2 minutes. Gets me out of the saddle 3 times in 18 minutes. It does not sound like much, but it's really helped. I need to do more, but I don't want to give up any time stretching and stuff. And all that takes me about an hour and a half now.

I just go get my bike and go ride. Tried trainers and hate them.
