Talk me off the ledge. There has to be a less expensive way to get iron sights and a cool, versatile rifle. Ruger Scout? Springfield M1A? Any ideas? My marriage may depend on you.

Ruger Scout (I just picked one up) or Mossberg MVP (Patrol or Scout model). The MVP was actually my first choice, but the Ruger is available left handed and I found a deal on one in stock.

The Tikka T3x is an AWESOME rifle for sure, I have the T3x Tac A1 for long range stuff. BUT...the magazines are $90+ each and proprietary. The Mossberg is less expensive, shorter, lighter and accepts common AR 15/10 mags.

The Ruger Scout accepts AICS pattern mags (single stack in .308), so pretty much limited to 10 round magazines.

Good price on a Savage Scout with glass in the classifieds.

I'm a Ruger scout fan myself and have one sitting a foot to my left at the moment.

Do you have that with a scout scope or an Ultimak rail and standard scope? Or no scope?

I have a Nikon 2x20 handgun/scout scope on it. I had a Vortex 2-7 Scout on it but wanted a smaller lighter rig and 2x is enough for how I use it.

I use Warne QD rings so I could pop it off and use the irons if the scope fails.

Seems like someone with a machine shop could make the front site screw on the muzzle threads of the CTR along with a picatinny mount rear set of irons...and you'd have pretty much the same thing with a little less weight without the laminated stock.

Just get what the Canadian Rangers were using before the Tikka. This Ranger seems to like the Long Branch #4 .303

When you figure it out let me know- I have been in love with that exact model for awhile

I own zero 308’s or 6,5 Creedmor so the whole ammo situation is giving me pause. I like to have a deep ammo stash. Right now that will cost a lot more than the rifle.

This acquisition was controversial in Canada due to the requirement that Colt-Canada be involved in the production of the rifles. The cost per rifle was extremely high due to the low volume of production. That said, they seem like really nice rifles!

Ok, I spent several hours in Wagram today and had to make some tough decisions. A couple of my gotta have it guns just happened to be there. So I zigged instead of zagged.

The Maple Brownings have been calling to me for a while. So a little BL-22 is now home. I may have to head back down there and quench a little Winchester thirst too.

Bolt guns consume ammo at a much slower rate,

Interesting rifle...
I wonder how many competitors it had.
Gonna go out on a limb and say they did not test the AI-AW....

I doubt it, Canada didn't really buy the rifles from SAKO they bought the technical package for Colt Canada to build them. I doubt IA would have been as willing to agree to such a deal.
