I want to try Appendix carry

Sorry for the long winded question, just wanted to see if anyone had some suggestions, tips, tricks etc. for Appendix carry. 5'11" @175 lbs.

Personally, I believe it’s a great carry method. It’s fast and you have a good deal of control with the weapon dead center of your anterior side.

Before switching to AIWB, I was carrying at 4’o. Best advice I can give is devote a good deal of practice before you start AC.

I put in a solid couple months, practicing around 1-1.5 hours a day before I started AC. I used an airsoft pistol with the same dimensions/weight as my carry piece, but also used my actual weapon (cold) to practice and still do.

Yep, as I said upstream, almost 10 years for me AIWB. The one thing I never rush, is the re-holster. I look every time, and make sure there is nothing in the way (shirt tail, under shirt, string from a rain coat, etc). I never re-holster and not look, and I'm never in a hurry. Great video btw.

This is exactly the type of negative thinking you should get out of your mind! lol. I know you're joking but you mustn't buy into this fear and anxiety producing mentality. You can do this

People on the internet don't like if somebody carries in a shoulder holster, but encourage appendix carry. Weird world we live in.

THIS^^^ As always, it's important to know when and where to make up time or be fast. Reholstering is NEVER the time to make up time or be quick.

This is simple for me. If you carry a shoulder holster with the gun under your arm, pointing back, and I'm behind you, the gun is pointing at me. You go in a hurry to draw, and your not very proficient, and squeeze the trigger accidentally because of the adrenaline, I very well could be shot. Not to mention sweeping anyone to the side of you to draw and get it pointed straight. If I screw up an appendix draw, I shoot myself. I'm not sweeping anyone but myself, etc. Plus, shoulder draw is SLOW.

I want to try an appendix setup before I buy, if you’re local and can let me try it for 15 minutes, that’d ba great. John Lovell suggests the Tier 1 and T-rex Sidecar. @rantingredneck do you have an appendix setup?
I’ve a Vedder for the Hellcat, it’s uncomfortable ‘down there’ when sitting, it sits low and doesn’t allow for a grip purchase. I have to grab, then adjust my grip. Because of that, my Crossbreed SuperTuck at 5:00 position is a faster and safer draw.

You can try one of my Spider concealments. I have one for the G26 and one for the G19 w/rmr.

That’d be great! Do they feel the same, have the same dimensions? I’ve a G23 & 27 I’ve carried fir decades.
Yes, very similar. Not the exact same but very close.

Just ordered a T-Rex Arms sidecar. It’s gotten good reviews and they get great reviews on their customer service and quality. Will update after it gets here. Planning to carry my P320 xfull. And +1 to the slow re-holster. Probably the easiest way to lose a nut or worse.

Can't
So I typically carry a paddle just because it's easy to remove since I can't carry at my work. Slip on, slip off. However; that hasn't been an issue lately....

I used to carry about 3:30 and have found myself slowing moving my holster to the 1:00-1:30 area. No idea why, just seems better. So I want to try appendix carry without it costing me a fortune on a good holster that I don't know if I'm going to like or not.

I typically like Fobus holsters, they seem decent quality and they are cheap. I ordered an Fobus appendix for my G26 and it is horrible. I've adjusted retention and if it's in place, you can't even pull the weapon, not to mention it poking into my gut. This can't be what all appendix carriers deal with. I'm going to return it (Amazon)

I like the concept of the Tier 1 Concealment systems. Like the Axis Elite

I just don't want to drop $134 on a holster and not know if I'm even going to like carrying this way.

Can't carry or won't carry at work? If you don't wand me I'm carrying a gun

If you're looking for something positive I'm a big guy and can appendix carry. 6'5 280 with a small belly. I got an appendix carry holster for my 43x from coldwar concealment (made in nc). It's served me well for hours of cc both sitting and standing. I suggest googling the 300th parallel. Will help wonders for how to carry and sit.

Anyone with experience with alien gear appendix holster that comes with their shape shift kit?

I am 5 feet and 6 inches and weigh 175 with 36 pants...YES a Tall Burly Midget. I can Not AC....I like it Alot, just can't pull it off. Now if I move that same holster around to about 2 O'clock...good to go.

I'm not exactly 12:00, I'm off to the right between 1:00-2:00. Right about the crack at leg and bladder. My holster is just the firearm and it has the wing. On a road trip all day, hardware store picking up plywood, etc etc. I almost forget it's there. I'm 5'10+ and currently 180ish. (but working on ditching some weight)

The biggest thing with appendix is your body type. You kinda have to have a chest/shoulders of some kind so your shirt is almost draped over your body. If your chest is flat and your midsection isn’t, you’ll print like nobodies business. I’m 6’3, 270 and I can’t carry anywhere but appendix. In a good holster, a gun just disappears and I barely know it’s there. Tier 1 is a bit overhyped in my opinion. Unbelievably long wait times, very high price, and if you don’t like it, can’t return it within 30 days like 90% of holster companies. You get to flex on social media that you have a Tier 1 but that’s about it

Don’t go Alien Gear, Uncle Mike’s, etc. These are my “top-tier” holster company recommendations. Henry Holsters/Phlster/Dark Star Gear/JM Custom Kydex. I currently carry a Henry Holsters Flint Compact AIWB for my P365 and after trying 15 different holster companies, this is the one I carry daily. With Henry and Phlster, it’s same/next day shipping and my holster came out to $75 shipped. Only issue I can think of with the “better” holster companies is they sometimes don’t have the largest selection for different guns

I'm not a "big guy" I was always the little skinny kid. So my shoulders aren't broad, my arms are rather thin, I guess chest is average. I have a gut but it's not large. I can carry appendix in shorts and a t shirt. I don't think I print but I really don't care either way. I have a G19 with an RMR I carry once in awhile, but mostly a G26.

I've been buying Spider concealment holsters for IWB. Quick turn around for popular firearms, and the price is decent. I think the thumb makes a bid difference tucking that grip into your body.

You don’t have to be big, appendix works exponentially better for thinner people, I just mean if your chest is flatter than your midsection, you’ll print more as your shirt will be “laying” on your gun/midsection instead of draped over it. It’s not an issue for some people but still something to consider

I am a bigger guy, 5'10 or 5'11 250lb 40in pants. I would like to appendix carry my new g26. I picked up a cheap desantis slim tuk holster in store just to get me thru till I can order one. Its not the most comfortable one for appendix carry. So whats my options without spending too much money?

I've gone the cheap route for AIWB holsters in the past. I've been disappointed with all of them. Vedder is a great option. I used them till I tried a Tenicor Velo4. I currently carry my G26 in one and it's by far the best AIWB for me. It is pricy but well worth it. I was afraid the built in wedge would be uncomfortable. But when worn in the right spot with the wedge in the crease of your pelvis and upper thigh (for me) it works great. They have a great return policy too. If you don't like it, return it, no questions asked. They even refund your shipping cost and pay for return shipping. No BS, I have returned one already for a gun I sold.

I have been through a few different ones.
Losing weight helped a great deal.
Currently I have found G-Code is relatively local (NC) and makes a great product.

Someone tell Eddie Vedder that there's a gun accessories company that shares his name--I'd love to see his reaction.

Standard Light tuck and a snake eater mag carrier. The most non invasive set up I've found.
