Idiots...Their everywhere....

Pretty good shooting by the stand your grounders. Times are changing and the Big Bubbas ain't the threat they once were to a civil community.

@Bailey Boat..,small request. That's a disturbing video. Could you amend your op to reflect that?

And what's with the woman? Obviously she has poor decision capabilities as evidenced by her mouth and the situation she jumps in to, including her choice of mate.

@Geezer You moonlighting as Geezer Squid in the comment section of THT?:D

Ok I finally watched the video. Dying over a pile of trash seems like a shame but people have died over less.

From what I read these people were having problems with one another for awhile. That’s why the old man took the trash out with a pistol.

Based on the video I don’t think they should have been charged and I don’t think a grand jury will move this to trial. The man in the orange had a bat. He was threatening the other two. They never threatened him except when the old man said if you come within 3 ft of me or my son I will shoot you.

So billy badass took a swing with the bat and got shot by the old man. Then he went to swing again and the boy put him down for good with a face full of buckshot and he ended up throwing the bat as he dropped.

Whole lot of stupid on that alley but the 2 that shot didn’t commit any crime, unless they get a gun charge for no permit etc. IMO that was a self defense shooting. And neither shot after the threat was eliminated.

Interesting case. According to the article Button Pusher posted above, the deceased was armed with a baseball bat shortly before he died.

I'm not defending anyone in this crazy story. But the deceased was threatening to kill the father and son and was handed a baseball bat from his brother shortly before he was shot dead. I guess the deceased didn't think the Miller's guns were loaded or didn't think they had the guts to use them.

Story is full of stupid all the way around and on all sides.

Yep. That's my take as well.

I would not have turned my back on that guy. I think in that situation any type of retreat would have set him into motion with that bat. Any loss of life is tragic but IMHO. That guy should have seen the seriousness of the situation in the old mans eyes.

There's one person in that video that sounds like an out of control hothead. The other two, are calm and relaxed. The out of control sounding hothead ended up with a baseball bat just after or before threatening to kill both, the father and son.

As stupid as that whole conversation was I feel the same as you. I'm not exactly sure what the conflict was, maybe how or where they were dumbing trash but there wasn't a person involved that handled that situation well. Especially the guy who got shot.

I honestly hope that idiots kids didn't have to witness their own father being shot and killed. This video doesn't put him for father of the year and I certainly hope he spoke to his kids better then he spoke to those fat guys(I have doubts) but still. He may be an idiot and his kids may be idiots but they're still kids and not a kid on the planet deserves to watch that.

If anything I think THT may be even funnier (weird funny, not ha ha funny) than this place as forums go.

I have enjoyed lurking there, but I am too afraid to join.

THT was one of the first forums I joined due to my addictive habit with boats, and you're right it can be pretty brutal at times but nothing like it was when Wiley still owned it. The new owners have tamed it down a little using the permaban hammer but it still runs wild every once in a while.
I was the first Moderator on that site and after about 6-8 months I gave it up because of the time suck it created. I still go back there about once a week or so and enjoy a lot of long time friendships there....

Why was the old man taking a mattress out of the dumpster and putting it on the other guys property?

I have no idea. However, the wife of the guy that got shot stated the refuse company wouldn't pick up the mattress if it wasn't in the dumpster.

At my office building, once in awhile, somebody would dump off a mattress in our dumpster at night. The refuse company that serviced our dumpster would empty the dumpster and leave the mattress laying on the ground outside the dumpster.

They wouldn't even take mattresses. Maybe different refuse companies have different policies. @Chdamn could maybe enlighten us.

Can't blame the duo for aceing him, since he obviously had a case of the ass and tried to go all Joe Dimmagio on them, but geez...

I'm wondering if the thought ever crossed their minds, "It's a g.d. pile of garbage...I think instead of standing here and exacerbating this standoff, believe I'll back away, go the hell back to the house and leave this fool standing here to rant to the invisible man if he wants."

Not so funny story. When I was hiring @Chdamn s dumpsters at my dads place someone snuck in and dumped a mattress there.

What are you going to do? Didn't know who did it so it had to go in the dumpster.

Moderating THT must be the worst kind of torture on Earth. The stupid is strong around there.

Yet there is a lot of heart there too, if you hunt up the thread about the ugliest boat in the world.

I'm guessing the dude didn't like a couple of ... gentlemen threatening him with guns on his curtilage.

Kind of like some here said that they would not comply with someone who broke into their house pointing a gun at them.

That didn't work out so well for this guy.

My take is the wife of Big Bubba contributed heavily to incident going postal. Big would have probably voiced his displeasure and left the scene but being the good husband caused him to stay and escalate to violence, men folk tend to be touchy/stupid when their wife is involved.

I'm thinking the story between all of these folks started way before the mattress incident.

Masaad Ayoob used to teach [not sure about now], there is an applicable defense to shooting "unarmed" folks. The law says they must show intent and ability to do you harm. Ayoob's take was, if somebody KNOWS you are armed and advances anyway, you must assume they have the ability to overpower you and that their advancing shows intent. I always thought this was pretty clever and I know he has used it in court. Interesting at least.

Exactly, the old guy may not have been the most presentable person in his attire but he nailed a few key words that will go well in his defense. Poor Bubba never took the time to figure out he was facing a person fearing for his life, a very serious person with deadly force as well as a son, another not dressed for the public event but well prepared to protect his Dad. Times are changing and kicking ass is not going very well for those that think a lesson with their fists or worse is an excusable act.

Can't find the link, but the guy that got aced was alleged to be so far out there he was on haloperidol or something, threatening the mailman for stalking his children because he stepped in their yard, etc. I've known similar people who would have died (and did) for even less.

Looked like a headshot.

laughed out loud at the old fat man. "I doubt it"

It's a bad and sad situation for all involved. Killing another human being has to be an incredibly difficult experience to deal with regardless of the circumstance.
