Is freedom of expression a hate crime?

Can you have a crime without a victim?
There it is in a nutshell. It's not illegal for you to be repugnant. If your legal status depends on other people's feelings... where are we?

Back in 1968 I lived in NYC Brooklyn, my cousin showed me his Halloween costume, he was going out as a KKK member. My aunt made it for him, she thought it was funny. He wanted me to go out with him like we always did as kids on Halloween. When that time came I told my parents I did not want to go out with him and I did not.
