Fight hard.
I was looking at the PSA AK-V when I ran across these GP Stribogs. Seems to be a well liked piece of hardware. Anything negative I should know?
I'm pretty sure it was the reverse. A3 had some early issues and the A1 has been good to go. I have an A1 I got back in January and I haven't had any issues. We have put around 750 rounds through it. Waiting on a couple suppressors to try on it now.No personal experience but what I have read is gen 1 was finicky. But the A3 are much better. Akv are great , if you prefer AR platform check out the ARV
Yes, the A3 was the one that had issues when it came out tolerances on some part that I can't recall.I'm pretty sure it was the reverse. A3 had some early issues and the A1 has been good to go. Well that's no good.Yes, the A3 was the one that had issues when it came out tolerances on some part that I can't recall.
The mags for both models suck for different reasons.
A1 mags would crack
A3 mags wouldn't feed correctly.
Because of the funky mag issues folks have swapped lowers for the Lingle version so they could run AR components like a frt-15 trigger and scorpion mags. Lingle makes a lower to take colt mags but they don't seem to be popular.
In all fairness, I believe the AK-V has some out-of-battery detonations.
This is the Greensboro hub in a nutshell. It's always a crap shoot if you track your package to that hub.Check out this thread...
On page 2 I did a range report with some pics.
I really like mine, it's more accurate than I expected, and it's tons of fun to shoot.
Stribog is go.
I may be jumping the gun here... I hope so... I called USPS customer service, waited on hold for 51 minutes, and spoke with an agent. She said the package arrived at the Greensboro Regional Center on Monday and it has not been scanned again since. It has apparently disappeared. She opened an...carolinafirearmsforum.com
Thanks for posting this...I know this thread is a bit old but figured I'd share since unfortunately have a lot of experience with the A3 BOG (both good and bad). The good is that the gun has great ergonomics, super accurate, aftermarket is coming along nicely, very nice suppressor host, and the trigger is great (especially the newer flat trigger) right out of the box. I prefer it over my Scorpion in all but reliability and magazine quality. That said my experience with Global Ordnance has been exceptionally poor. They finally did make things right in the end and I'm probably ahead but it was a journey to get there.
When I first got my A3 I absolutely loved it. Only issue I had was it did not seem to like hollow points (or at least the ones I had available to test). I ended up polishing the feed ramp but the ammo panic set in and I couldn't test it afterwards. Then I also made the unfortunate mistake of sending my bolt in for the "Upgrade" (@Alabamacoastie don't do it!). My gun never worked again after that. After roughly 30-60 rounds it would jam up hard and the bolt would stop about 1/2" from fully engaged. Sent it back probably a half dozen times, each time it would lock up again within the same round count or sooner. Got my gun back with damaged sights once because they left them flipped up and smashed them down into the case. Difficult to get responses, said they did work to the gun that was not actually done (like replacing a bolt that I had marked with an orange marker so I knew it was not replaced), initial broken promise to replace the gun, just generally an all around shit show. They did send me some ammo to test the gun after the orange marker incident which was a nice gesture and then they finally just replaced the gun with a new A3. In the end between the ammo and new gun I'm probably ahead but this was about a 6 month ordeal and still wouldn't recommend them.
Chances are you won't experience the same but it's a risk. It's a shame because the gun has so much potential. All it really needs is a reliable mag option and last I heard One off coating was working on an aftermarket one. Still haven't shot the replacement one yet but I'm hoping it rekindles some interest.
How large is a "case"? I think of a case as 500-1000 rounds. Don't know if it has an official sizeGlobal ordinance is/was doing $100 case of 9mm with purchase of any stribog.
I believe they were advertising 1000 rounds of TulammoHow large is a "case"? I think of a case as 500-1000 rounds. Don't know if it has an official size
I don't have a sling on mine yet since I haven't put enough rounds through it for me to deem it reliable but I have put a few mods on it. HB Industries makes a nice extended mag release which I have and love. They also make some other cool things like a folding charging handle that I have my eye on. I also have an angstadt arms tri lug muzzle break but tbh if I were to do it again I would just get the HBI tri lug flash hider. Not sure if it would thread all the way though given the longer threads on the BOG. The angstadt comes with some metal timing washers which helps fill that gap. I did need two sets of the timing washers though which was annoying. Also really liked the MCARBO trigger spring kit I have. It was great on my old curved trigger A3 but have not tried it on my newer A3 with the straight trigger. The new trigger is great out of the box so not sure I'm going to install it or not. Also maybe interested in the KNS knurled charging handle over the HBI folding but haven't decided yet.Do any of you guys know where one can buy accessories for these? I just ordered an A1, and I think the first thing I would like is a sling.
Yea, it can be a pain. I usually have to tap the plastic end cap out with something. The brace itself is easier to get out once it's installed.Nevermind... I figured it out. That manual is useless!
