Is there any place within an hour of southern Wake County that rents enclosed trailers that’ll work for two bikes?

U-Haul has a nice open one bike trailer, but I’m pondering about trailering mine, picking up a buddy and his bike in Miss., and heading to warmer climate (southwest) for a couple of weeks.

For two touring bikes, 900-1000 lbs each.

You ride in the cold all the time. You'll get out of cold weather pretty quick.

No.

Thank you.

Don’t make me start using unnecessary, and incorrect punctuation on you.

I can... and I will.

😂

U haul does have enclosed trailers you can rent just not sure if they would fit both bikes....I do know a hot shot and a transporter if you wanted to go that route.

I’ve got this posted on an HD forum also, so once I wade through the inane suggestions, and Saturday night smart-assery, I’ll report back here with any worthwhile findings.

The experts over on the HD forum are saying no way jose' on that 6x12 UHaul. Just not big enough.

In other news, I looked at the weather in the greater Phoenix area just to see what it’s like out there right now (which I should have done first). Not really any nicer there than here. And up in Flagstaff is just danged frigid.

My concern would be having good enough anchor points to tie the bikes down correctly and safely.

I think you would be better off with either one bike on a trailer and one in the back of a truck. Or both bikes on a trailer that was specifically designed for big bikes. I wouldn't worry too much about it being enclosed. Just cover them up or wash em when you get there.

I’m more than an hour from you but I have a really nice enclosed trailer you’re welcome to borrow.

It’s set up to haul 3 snow mobiles so lots of tie downs.

It might be a little bigger than you need. Dual axle. 2 5/16 ball which I have on a hitch. Have straight, raised or dropped we can switch it to.

Thanks Chad. I appreciate that offer.

After looking at the Arizona weather earlier this evening, I’m realizing that it won’t be nearly nice enough out there (or anywhere else north of the border) to tow the bikes out there in January/February.

Way back before I had a van, I would rent a small enclosed U-Haul trailer to take my race bike to the track. No tie-down points whatsoever. I would drill holes in the corners of the floor and insert a bolt through a short piece of bike chain, backed up by a fender washer, for my own tie-downs. Take em out when done. Nobody ever said a word. If you ever rent a small enclosed U-Haul trailer and find holes in the corners of the floor, you’ll know it’s one I used 😃

Get something that is national.
Like Uhaul or something like that.
If you have problems they will help you or get you another trailer.
Local company may make you have it towed back if there is problems. It gets tricky. Ask them up front. Tire problems or damage to bearing or axle. What happens? How is it handled?
Is it ok to travel out of state? If something happens who is responsible to get it back?

Another thought is fly to an area and possibly rent some bikes. Solves trailer issue if you can. Doesn’t some of the dealerships rent them in certain areas no idea how costly it is though?

Some dealers do.

But stock bikes don’t fit me for more than a jaunt to the gas station, so for a lot of riding it just wouldn’t work.

Pick your buddy up in Jackson, take I-55 south to I-10. Find a place to park/store your truck and trailer (New Orleans HD dealership) and ride west. Weather here now this week is iffy as a cold front is coming in. The last few days we've had mornings in the 40's and afternoons in the high 60's. Towards the end of February we go back into the 70's. Galveston, Corpus Christi, San Antonio will be farther south and warmer. Off the interstate there are many, many small towns in between the larger places.

Circle back to New Orleans, load up, retrace your trip back to Jackson and on back to NC.

Wait until the first of March. Then you can meet him at Bike Week in Daytona. Should be warm enough to ride then.
