If this bag is carried with the gun away from the body, is it open or concealed? You can see it pretty well, but what do you think?IMG_20180713_070429_hdr.jpg

In my opinion, concealed.

I do not think this one is seriously debatable. I'm looking right at it and, unless you told me, would not know it's a gun.

Well, it gives another option in getting it to the car! Not likely to forget it's there, and will remember to move it to the seat or put it in the trunk.
Soon, I hope to be able to carry it pretty much however I like!

I'd be more concerned with holster retention on a draw. Just gripping that thick canvas of the bag is not going ot keep it in the bag and not coming out with your draw. Just add a little flag with "bang" on the end of it and you'd be all set in that situation!

I too would consider it concealed, but I would also consider it a poor method of carry. If you are going to carry off the body in a bag I recommend getting a purpose built purse for it or at least putting it down inside the bag where it cannot be seen at all. From a picture it may be hard to tell what it is, but in person I could see it being more obvious.

Again, 99.99% of the time it would still be "ok" but I don't think its "Optimal".

Hmmm ... while it may not be completely & technically concealed you’re going to get some nosy gun hater or some LEO (or worst thief) to say it is and some trouble to follow. The gun hater will call 911 and the responding LEOs will likely be on edge from call of a gun and you’re down one before they talk to you. If a LEO spots it and approaches you can argue if he saw it it’s not concealed but if pushed LEOs tend to arrest and let the courts rule on if it’s really legal or not. The thief spotting it is the worst because he’s likely will try to take it one way or another ... pick pocket or outright grabs your bag.

IF you have to carry off your person once you get your Concealed Handgun Permit, which I personally do not like because of the lower level of control you maintain of your firearm, use a proper bag for safety and secure carry. My wife has one bag she uses that has a built in holster to cover the trigger and hold the gun secure while making draw easier. It also has a piece of aircraft cable in the strap to keep the thief from cutting the strap and bolting.

Just asking, don't plan to carry in my bag once I get my permit. It's going to be ON my person when I'm out and about.

I've looked at those handbags, but have decided they're not for me. The "cable in the strap" thing would be good for any bag!
As for the rest of your response, I agree that the police would be apt to let the court sort it out! Thanks for responding.

Just as an aside, >this< is why our current laws tick me off so much. Here is Millie having to freakin dance around the law just to protect herself. All the while, Joe Blow Felon out there has zero cares in the world for how he is carrying his weapons. Its a shame and a disgrace. You already passed the checks to purchase the firearm, Mr. Felon doesn't care about those either.

As honest gun owners point out ... and ironically ... only honest citizens follows laws and thus theses law ironically work to the criminals’ advantage by leaving many honest people at their mercy.

If you merely need to transport the gun a short distance to/from your vehicle, I suppose you could carry it inside a handbag with a zipper that you could lock closed with a small travel lock. Seems to me that you would just be transporting the gun and it’s neither concealed nor open carry.

Not a good carry method for self-defense, of course.
