JM stamped 243

JM stands for John Marlin. And indicates the rifle was made prior to Marlin being purchased by Remington. In many people’s opinion, the quality of Marlin rifles really tanked after the Remington take over.

To answer the question of value, I’m not current on the value of Marlin bolt guns. This question will be best answered by someone else. I haven’t shot one, but I have looked at them in LGS and they seem like a nice little entry level rifle.

The xs7 iirc is a youth rifle, as far as worth it depends the condition and action type. Most were prolly bolt with a 200-250 value. If it is a lever action maybe 350 to 400. Again all depends on condition

Not a youth rifle, xs7 is short action and xl7 was the long action bolt offerings. As stated, not high dollar guns.

They were/are entry level rifles. Had one in 7mm-08 and it was a good shooter. The JM stanp doesn't seem to make much difference in value on these right now. Not like the lever guns.
