I am going to do 2 of these this year, on 7/30 and 10/29 (5th Sundays) to see how people like them and how to run them. I am trying to shamelessly duplicate what the Utah Long Range Shooters do for their 22 Challenge matches (see them on youtube for examples), which look like a blast. That is too far for me to drive.

There are some slots left in the July 30th match. Here is the email that went out last week to people on the DPRC Precision Rimfire email list (email me at [email protected] to get added to the list):

This one is going to be fun! Check out the 22 Challenge Match page for details about the match, and register here.

The summary course of fire for this match:

Stage #: Short description

1: One cold bore shot on paper
(Sighter plate at 100)
2: 5 plates from a 50 yard rack, decreasing sizes
3: 5 flasher targets at varying ranges
4: Hostage - penalty no-shoot plate partially obscuring a knockover steel target. Must fire on the fire command!
5: Find your limit - a target called "know your limit", but for now you can shoot until you miss without losing points earned
6: 5 plates from a 100 yard rack, decreasing sizes
7: 5 poppers arrayed left to right across the range
8: Break the heads off 5 matchsticks with up to 10 shots
9: TBD

Target scores will add up to a maximum possible 100 points for 40 scored targets. 2 divisions, target (bench) and tactical (positions vary per stage). We will have at least one new tactical prop for this match. Each squad will be able to complete the match in less than 90 minutes. Registration is $20, $15 for DPRC members/LEO/active military, and free for under 18.

There will only be one more 22 Challenge match this year, on October 29th. Depending on how things go, next year's schedule may have a different mix of our traditional rimfire precision and the 22 challenge matches.

Thanks to everyone that came out Sunday, and especially those that helped set up and tear down. It was a beautiful day to shoot, and we had lots of targets :) We did some serious shooting. I think it is safe to say that everyone had fun, everyone was challenged, and everyone learned something too.

Results and pictures are posted on Sunday's match page. Even if you weren't there, take a minute to check out the pictures. Range 0 is awesome, and we filled it up with targets and wind flags, and had a blast shooting them all. Looking forward to October...
