June/July 2022 22lr Rimfire 50 Yard Challenge

If you like the looks of this you will really like what was going on when I first arrived. I was the only person shooting this morning. Three Wild Turkeys were fighting each other close to the woodline straight behind my Rifle set up. Sorry I can't get the 30 second video to post.

I've seen turkeys out there several times. It is quiet early in the morning when no one is there.

Shot 4 targets, only showing you three of them because the first one turned into the sighter target. So here's my attempt at 50, 75, and 100 yards. Volquartsen Custom in Victor Titan stock, Meopta 3-15 set to 10 power for the whole event. Norma Tac ammo. I was using the little hand beanbag. The large one is just range rules keeping the rifle level for photo.

That is pretty good shooting and fairly consistent. I didn't notice any scores so I did the math myself, not sure this is correct, it's hard to tell some hits.
50 yard. 175. 75 yard 185 & 100 yd 175.
I noticed that you also missed some big cans but hit the small ones. I did the same and wondered what happened. Does aim small miss small come into play or are we just overconfident?
I have shot the Norma Tac 22, it shoots good but not as good as Lapua Center X in my rifle. Nice rifle, good set up and you had a fun day at range.

I want to blame the ammo. The Norma Tac22 shoots well for me 90% of the time, then you get some wild card that had a mind of it's own.
That one that it the fence was all me. I knew it as soon as I released the shot.

I didn't bother scoring because I expected someone else to already have a higher score on the 50, and the 75 and 100 are just tie breaker sheets.

For July 4th weekend, I took a active duty mil (actually 3 of them) shooting. I got 220/225, but am happy to say that my score was bested with a 225/225 by Airman 1st Class Trey. Oh, and cool points added for 'merican flag Savage FV-SR, sporting a Tasco scope and an Griffin Optimus. He was shooting CCI subsonics, and I was using CCI SV.

I’m sure my stock 1022 is never going to win, but happy to finally gotten a 50 yard range set up. Now I just need a shooting bench Need to find me a cable spool before the month is out.
Some kind hearted advise for you ? If you trying to compete with these guys using a 10-22 try these ideas. Ammo is the key to accurate 22 Lr, cheap ammo will shoot like junk even in a match rifle. So buy some good ammo and dont practice with cheap ammo either , your just wasting your time. Solid stable rifle mounting, nuff said. Good quality scope that has parallax adjustability. Lastly, hand feed your bullet into the chamber for these comps. Sometimes magazines as they load the next bullet will shave lead off one side leading to inaccuracy. Hope this helps?

Appreciate it, I’m definitely not trying to “compete”, got too many wants to sink the money into a rifle that’ll keep up, just trying to have fun and learn. So to that point, thanks!

We got some land back in Feb, all my shooting time has been spent trying to get things cleared to shoot. It’s nice to have, downside is I gotta take care of it before shooting.

Tried it with my in-process 10/22 build. Don’t mind the bandages and jankity setup as I quickly slapped it together to test barrel support positions. Already this shoots way better than my RAR.

50 yards
10/22 with Clark Custom pencil barrel
UTG 4-12 scope
Norma Tac22

185/225

NICE.

Still a few days to get your targets posted! Looks like the high score at 50 yards has been met several times and we will use the 75 yard tie breaker unless we have a tie at 75 yards as well. #1gohunt is currently leading the tie breaker with a score of 200! 😀

We have a new winner this time around as oldmanhub has withdrawn to give others a chance. Congratulations to a great shooter with a big heart. That gives the win to #1gohunt with a tiebreaker score of 200! Congratulations to all of our winners! 🏆
