Keltec Sub2K

Just got done with the internal parts kit and sight kit from MCARBO. It was a very easy job to do at my kitchen table, especially with the great video that they had to follow. I did notice that my front site post is loose. Does anyone know how to tighten that, or do I need to delve into the depths of the internet?

If it's just the post, it's adjustable with an AR type front site tool. But you may not want to tighten it too much as it may be seated in the correct placement for accuracy.

The entire sight moves side to side. It rotates on the barrel.

FG&G had those a while back. I'd love to have one but I think marketing it as a HD weapon with optic etc. is missing the mark. Complicated rotating mounts or handguards screw up the entire concept. A Ruger or Beretta PCC would be much better in the HD role which doesn't benefit from the compact and folding nature of the Sub2k that is much more suited to mobile uses IMO. But it's the only PCC they have so...
I think the regular one would do just fine for HD (aside of the noise issue). If you go up against people with handguns with this thing you shoudl easily be able to outshoot them.

Grabbed a Gen 1 today for a song at the LGS. Or it felt like a song, what’s a good price used?

Anyway, thought I’d ask, any good way to swap for grip for something like the Gen 2 with M-LOK slots and any front post sight upgrades? Otherwise plan to keep this simple, maybe do some MCarbo upgrades later but wanted a truck gun.

How much did you pay? Maybe some of the other owners can chime in on how hard it would be to upgrade a gen 1 to gen 2. My gen 2 is stock, it works just fine for me the way it is. Added a foregrip and a light and using it for HD.

Question… since the mag I got doesn’t fit and I’m too cheap to buy Glock mags for a KelTec gun, is there any preference for PMags or ProMags? Or the $20 fun sticks from random manufacturers?

If your gonna go aftermarket, Kel Tec sends Magpuls out with gen 2 models....

Id stay away from everything else but Factory and Magpuls myself.

I have some of those and so far they have all worked just fine. At least for the range.

The 2nd Amendment and Magpul magazines worked flawlessly for me. You can't upgrade the grip as far as I know, but look at Kel-Tec and MCarbo's websites if you want to upgrade. Both have options. Kel-Tec makes a smaller handguard for the Gen 1 that you can buy as well as one you can add picatinny rails to. Both websites have some other upgrades for Gen 1s as well.

@ChickenHawk Great timing and news, thanks. Just grabbed this deal from Bereli. No tax to NC either so even if they completely suck I won't be too sad as I like Fed ammo. Also missed any pic rail options from KelTec, I'll have to look at them again.

Hey, thanks for posting that, I’ve been looking for a deal on a couple Glock mags

Fed always ran reliably for me as well, even breaking in my Shield while the S&B, Fiocchi etc would jam or FTF.

Here you go.

Meant to put the slim handguard replacement as well if you don't care about attachments.

Appreciate the rails, Was thinking of a RDS on a QD so I could store it on the bottom. Need a new front blade to, that cheap bent red plastic isn’t great.

It takes a standard AR front sight post so you have a lot of options to choose from for that.

ETA: The gen 2 does. I don't know if the gen 1 does for sure.

The only real issue I had with the Sub 2K was that nut holding the two halves of the gun together. Once this comes off, it does not want to stay on. I fixed this by making two slits partway down the length of it. When tightening down the QD sling mount, this actually allows the nut to cinch down on the gun and hold in place. Before it could just slide off.

Aside from this, I added the metal feed ramp, AFG, and installed a tiny green Crimson Trace laser on the rail.

I’m considering buying a glock 17 model right now due to the $100 rebate.

Anyone try this optic mount? Allows for a red dot mount and maintains the ability to fold.

Would consider pairing with this on a low mount.

Yes, I have this on my gen 2 and it works awesome. Folds to the side so you can still lock the gun in place folded, keeps your red dot in place and maintains zero.

With the prices coming down and the $100 rebate had me jump in. Picking mine up today. Already have some MCarbo parts coming, a mix of various mags, and qd sling. Next thing I will be looking at is adding a tri-lug to it so I can use my R9 on it.

Watch this for a comparison of the most popular two mount choices. I'm leaning towards the MI after watching this.

Watched the video and the things he cares about, low profile storage, is not my biggest concern.

I like the low overbore height of the MCARBO mount, and is probably close enough I can use a prism optic for my astigmatism. If it were me I’d rather mount a red dot to the handguard and never fold it than buy the MI. I don’t like the way it looks and prefer a lower mount.

I'm looking for the lowest profile that I can get. Plan to carry it on a side by side and a truck gun.

I may be misremembering but I think the regular version vanished when the takedown came out.
Lame, I don’t want to take this apart. My ARs are never separated except when cleaning. The take apart feature seems limited to a unique scenario and I don’t want the trade offs that come with a feature I don’t need. Odd the whole line is this way.

I have an inexpensive QD mount from Monstrum Tactical, got this idea from @Flashpoint post. Swapped out the afg-2 with the XTM handstop on my 9mm non Glock. May grab another in .40 G22.
