They're still at it in some sort of Meso-American Country not-to-be-named Standoff.
The best drama was after the squirrel had wandered off and came back - it went right up to the snake nose-to-nose which struck out: the squirrel leaped back though in time. Gotta give that rodent credit for fast reflexes (not sure whether there was a coincident pellet drop).
They're back at it again, just looking at each other. Birds come and go: a Blue Jay gave that snake a pretty much FO look - was leaning way out of the feeder and definitely giving an evil eye look.
That would have been my likely reaction had I been refilling the bird feeder wearing my flops and looked down!
Actually, I like snakes, but I'm not looking for an intimate encounter with a copperhead. But the rat snake is just fine - wouldn't mind directing him/her to the cowbird lair.
