Thank you guys for the continued prayers and support. I don't know anything about this forum. Jerek only showed me how to do these posts so I could keep you all updated. I know ya'll are like a group of brothers to him and for that I am appreciative. Now on to the update...
Yesterday was quite an informational day. Jerek is expected to reach remission after this first phase/hospital stay. As long as this is done, most of his remaining treatment should be completed as outpatient with the goal of keeping him in remission. He began taking steroids yesterday, which he will be on and off of for 7 days at a time. He also began chemotherapy yesterday. He will be receiving various cocktails of drugs throughout his treatment. He received 2 drugs yesterday, which he will get every Tuesday while he is in the hospital. He is expected to receive another drug on Friday. So far, he is handling the drugs well. He is tired, but has not been sick. His levels have also been good so he has not needed any additional platelets, blood, or meds. There are some days (like today) where he will only receive steroids. There will be some days he gets nothing at all. The chemo drugs will wipe out his immune system so he will be highly susceptible to infection. Please continue to pray that he continues to tolerate the chemo drugs well and does not get any infections.
