Years back in CQB the most memorable words for me were in a knife fight you will be cut … that’s when I really started believing in the 21 foot rule. As he went on he made another surprising statement he almost would rather be shot by a handgun than attacked by a knife. When I had a chance to ask about his “choice” he explained than a bullet from a handgun has a higher survi rate than a knife attack. Bleeding from knife wounds is actually harder to control than handgun wounds … especially when it’s multiple cuts/stabs. Thinking back to my old VFD days and at wrecks bleeding out took more lives than vehicle fires. Yep, knives make you bleed damn quick so I can sure see the trend the video‘s numbers show.
If you know enough anatomy, you can do some real damage.Mrs. was a martial artist. Yes, before she got sick, she could kick my ass.
I mentioned to her one time that I was more afraid of edged weapons than guns. She told me that was a definitely good thought. And proceeded to tell me where and how someone good with a knife, like her sensei, could cut me and that there would be no surgery necessary. An ambulance couldn't get there fast enough to be of any help to stabilize me til I could get to the O.R.
from the right angle, even one jab could open your heart, cut a lung, and give you a pneumothoraxIf you know enough anatomy, you can do some real damage.
In response to the message quoted above. You could be sitting in the OR on a table with a surgeon at the ready and you would still bleed out from a well placed stab wound. Sever the aorta from the heart and your dead. All the surgeon could do is complete the toe tag and send you to the morgue.
