Cost of Ammo and lack of ammo probably had a lot to do with it.can you imagine what a million plus rounds of ammo costs
I doubt machine collectors are too worried about ammo prices, but maybe I'm wrong. I'm merely a lowly Glock collector. 😞

They have said that's all before and I guess by popular demand it came back. Me and my BIL went yrs ago and had a BLAST literally. Should have taken more money and shot more guns on the rental range. My BIL went all Rambo with an M60. THe ownership of the range has changed several times since we went. Probably 20 yrs ago. The night shoot with the tracers and explosions is the big draw.

I know people that used to shoot at knob creek years ago. Let’s just say these guys aren’t worried about the price of ammo. These guys have access to pallets of ammo bought and paid for in the late 70s through early 90s. I’m sure a few people on this site know the type person I’m talking about. Heck we may know the same people.

The sad part is these guys are getting too old to enjoy their MG collection. Their kids don’t give 2 cents about them they just sit in the vault literally collecting dust. I should talk to them and get them to do a “big” machine gun shoot one of the farms and invite a bunch of people and have our own little machine gun shoot.

When my grandpa was alive, he used to live close to them with his ex wife. I went there when i was young and we heard the shooting. My step gma says there they go again, it drives me crazy when they do that. My grandpa just smiled, looked at me and said "not me". I'll never forget that.

Doesn't take long to go thru 1,250,000 rounds . That's a lot of pallets. Sure there are people that have the funds and ammo but all good things come to an end.Hell, I use to shoot 20,000 rounds a year.. Some weekends we would shoot 1000 rounds of 357mag and 44 mag. But it was all ammo that we loaded with bullets that we casted..These days no where near that in a year. Sure miss those days.🙁

True. A few aged out, a few were shut down, a few died. Thry used to have dualing mini guns and melt down m60s and 240’s. The clamp down on post samples hurt a bit too. We don’t have enough young people getting into shooting .

That's one of the things I miss about the military...the thumping and percussion in your chest, the smell, the tracers.

With the right amount of people and the right guns, no it doesn't.

A few years ago, I met someone at the long range shoot in Maxton, NC. He brought a Barrett .50 that he was letting others shoot. He invited some of us to some sort of Knob Creek type shoot in the upper part of NC, near the VA line I think. He said it was like a mini Knob Creek with cannons, MG's and the like. Never got the follow-up on it. Some members of an earlier iteration of this board were in Maxton with me. Don't know if any of them are here now.

There were more millionaires per sq ft at Knob Creek than at Barrett Jackson...no ammo worries there.
You are not wrong. I went once a number of years ago. I said to my friend, "I can't believe how many smoken hot girls are here."
He said follow the $. Made sense to me. 😁 And the night shoot was awesome.

I always wanted to make the trip to the Knob Creek shoot, not enough money or something always got in the way. My other trip was going to be Camp Perry but I never got there either. Young whipper snappers, do what you want to do now when you can enjoy it.
