The folks in the house before us left the dining room windows in place when they closed in the back porch. Not really sure why
So, wifey has been wanting them gone and a doorway in their place. Little man and I got busy yesterday morning with the demo.
Taught him how to remove trim, took out the windows, and started taking out the sheetrock.
Got the drywall removed and taught him the importance of a little cleanup as you go. Disconnected the electrical, cut the window frame loose, and ripped the framing out.
I pulled the electrical under the house and put it in a j box, cut our doorframes and put them up. Taught him what plumb is and why it's important.
We stopped there...cause I didnt have replacement sheetrock or my finished wood for the frame face yet lol. Did a few other things then went and got the drywall and boards yesterday evening. Went by paw paws on the way home and ripped the boards down to size on his table saw.
Got at it again this morning. Laid out, cut, and hung our drywall. I dont have one of those big squares to run the knife on, but little man likes using the chalk box anyhow lol.
Put up the facia wood then got everything mudded, and the trim cut and put back on.
Now it's ready for sanding and paint...as soon as she gets the rest of the wallpaper down lol. Thats all her, my part of this is over (in reality, I'll end up sanding and painting sometime in October lol). I do have to go up to paw paws tomorrow and root through all his scrap and see if I can find stuff to make a threshold with.
All in all, it was fun and I got to spend some time with my little feller. We laughed, tore stuff up, made a mess, and accomplished something.
