Lady Who?

Nope, never heard the word outside of this musical group, so I’m going off of the previously stated “Antebellum, Latin for before war”.
Even your explanation, which aligns with what I just found on google, doesn’t explain what’s so offensive. It’s a time period. They may not like what happened during that time period, but it’s a reality. Using the name doesn’t glorify it. What’s next? Are you going to erase 18th century and prior history from the books???

I guess I’m too black and white to get this one.

Try explaining that to the dumbasses tearing down monuments & trying to rename military bases. You can “whiteout”, no pun intended, history, but you can’t erase it.

To add to what TH mentioned upstream, this isnt even pandering to just 13%...of those 13%, I would bet the vast majority of them have never even heard of the band. Of those that have, maybe a fraction of a % even cared. This is just a major virtue signal and done with a strong desire to prove to people who dont care that they are "woke".

Bands change names all the time. Members come, members go, things happen. If they were really just concerned they could have just announced quietly that they were changing their name to keep more in line with what (as they claim) the majority of their fans call them anyway. They could have completely left out the pandering, the same effect achieved. The fans this irritates wouldnt have been, and those that were offended would lose their ground.

The funny thing is there is already a lady A who is none to happy that she now took her name. She also happens to be black and is calling out lady antebellum for her white privilege in appropriating her name.
now that is karma

Sounds like this is the best thing to ever happen to the original Lady A that is already using the name. I don't believe she was too popular before this? Maybe she will get a big payday from Lady Antebellum?
