Haven't they always been too big for their britches. :D

These days, I don't see how useful they are except for CSI type researching. At least concerning firearms. I mean, with all the work arounds and small scale production capability these days, the old rules and regulations seem moot. It's like trying to regulate a front gate when the rear gate is wide open. If I ran it, I'd be throwing up my hands and declaring that there now way to control it all. Seems they should be folded into the FBI or other overlapping investigative service.

The Florida situation was just stupid; the employee responsible for NICS checks not doing them for a year because they couldn't login to the system was inexcusable.
I can imagine that some Alabama sheriffs might object to NICS checks and simply skip them.
And I can certainly see some authorities skipping NICS thinking it was unfair to penalize people for MJ convictions now that it is legal under Michigan law.

So one case of stupid and two cases of people doing what they probably think is right, regardless of whether it is legal or not.

The ATF should be told to crap in a pile and stick itā€™s head in it. The biggest way to kill the system is to not comply with or support it. The states should just stop. Yes, freedom is messy and someone should ā€œshouldnā€™tā€ will get a gun, but itā€™s not like the system stops that today anyway.
So one case of stupid and two cases of people doing what they probably think is right, regardless of whether it is legal or not.
Proving once again that legal is a poor substitute or definition for right and wrong.
