This has been mentioned before, but now that world events have gotten interesting, I thought it worth mentioning again. (And I just got an email from them.)
The LDS (Latter Day Saints) (Mormons) Preparedness Manual is one of the most comprehensive manuals on prepping available and it's free. Though periodically laced with Mormon religion comments, it covers most all aspect of preparedness. Even if you don't agree with everything it brings up points you may not have thought about and you can devise you own solution. Things like fire fighting and sanitation (a big one by the way) to how to calculate food stores. I used to host a weekly interactive ham radio event discussing these topics.
I recommend downloading the free copy and peruse it for value. It's a whole bunch of info and kinda difficult to use digital only. If you like it, buy the hard copy. The purchase of the hard copy was cheaper than printing our own. We had ours cut and punched for a 3 ring binder for ease of use.
Many of us consider the manual to be THE manual for beginners and useful for those more experienced as well. Even if you don't agree with everything, it's a guideline to think and modify from.
