I applaud activists who bring cockroaches to light and make them scurry.
Just one question, though, for those whose indignation and outrage at the sleaziness of politicos calls for despair, like this is some intolerable burden to watch the state, as if it were expected to behave itself.
JUST WHAT DO YOU THINK PATRICK HENRY MEANT WHEN HE SAID "THE PRICE OF LIBERTY IS ETERNAL VIGILANCE"
Was he just angling for a spot in "Bartlett's Quotations" or did he mean that this continuous expectation that the state would misbehave should be a part of our ORDINARY expectations?
If the latter, then how in God's name can you support, even in theory, the idea of a centralized state in DC in the first place? And if not, should your political goal not be the DESTRUCTION of that state by the very political activity you are advocating to "keep them honest" (pardon me while I collapse into fits of laughter)?
I think you want to buy half the cow and walk it home. All the Lee Greenwood songs and weepy bawling out of the star spangled banner with hands over hearts isn't going to make that possible.
