What temperature do you run your pots on when casting Linotype? I usually run about 650 with COWW lead. Does it work better on Linotype at a higher temp.?
Thanks!

I just fire up the fish cooker. When things look right, I make ingots. I do the same when I'm making some pewter heavy ingots.

You will have to experiment with what works best for you and your molds. My molds (Lee and NOE) like coww closer to 700/750. Running my pot full of COWW at 650 doesn't do well for me and mine. If I'm running the small 223 molds I have to run it hotter than 750.

You just have to experiment.

I dont have any way to check temp. I like to cast with linotype thought, it fills mold very well. I melt the batch of metal completely then lower temp on pot. All I have is an adjustable rheostat so I just go by how my mold is throwing. If lino metal is too hot the slugs have a frosted appearance. But still shoot ok.
