Hi everyone

I mistakenly ordered 500 150 grain coated cast 9mm bullets from Precision bullet company. I can't find any load data in the load manuals for any bullet greater than 147 grain. Has anyone had any load experience with this heavy bullet? I have been loading 115 grain for many years.

Many thanks,

Bob

Being the data is for lead and down in pressure and speed vs Jacket bullets you will be fine.
Most people shooting that bullet are looking light loads because they want suppressed Subs. So they down load them.
Any data for 140 to 150 grn on the bottom end of the table would work

Which powder are you using? Some manufacturers have some data available online. I would feel more comfortable experimenting with a slower powder with a larger window, but 3 grains projectile weight isn’t a lot of difference. A fast powder doesn’t give you a lot of wiggle room. You may also want to mic a few to be sure the coating doesn’t make them O/S. Start low and work up.

It's all theory until you load some up and see what happens. Start on the lower side of the 147gr data and tweak until you get what you want, whether it be velocity or accuracy, etc. My loads almost always vary from the published data to some degree. Sometimes more, sometimes less, sometimes significantly. I think it's funny when I see some people get so wrapped around the axle on exact data and it's not an exact science. Well, it might be an exact science in a completely controlled environment, like a lab. But, the real, practical world is full of variabes. It's more of an art and some people want to paint by numbers. And, I might add, some are completely fine with that, because that's all they need.

Just sayin'
