I haven’t had to buy reloading supplies for a few years and am going to need primers and powder soon - specifically small pistol primers and pistol powder. Does anyone know the most cost effective way to go these days for a local supplier?

I live in Holly Springs but can travel…

Blue collar is one of the best in the country, let alone state. There are several stores that might have "some" stuff. Blue collar is the only one I know of that has it all, if it's in stock. And when it comes to "in stock", they often have things that I haven't been able to find ANYWHERE in the country.

+2-3 or whatever the count is now for Blue Collar. Another possibility for powder is Ed’s Gun Shop in Vass. Unless you want to shop for other items, I’d call Ed’s to confirm before going.

Cabelas in Garner. Fuquay Gun. They both have decent stock last week. I’m also in Holly Springs if you need anything specific message me I’ll see if I have a little.

I couldn't find 450 Bushmaster Starline (or any) brass nationwide, except for 50 used ones on line. I was driving past Blue Collar, stopped in, and they had four bags cheaper than anywhere else before the covid drought.
Check with Fuquay Gun, Young Guns in Apex may have some (I don't know how their pricing is), Academy in Apex, Ed's in Vass (~35 min S of you)

I was in Eagle Guns (Concord) today and they had bricks of CCI for $100.. And some Federal Match IIRC..

I cringe when I see the cost of primers now. Doesn’t look like the prices are going to drop anytime soon. I guess the days of 3 cent primers are long gone.
Primers are coming back in stock at lots of locations. Some are still not so common, but overall we're seeing stuff in stock. If it gets to the point that they start collecting dust, then the prices will come down. Of course next year could be a really bad year so I guess we'll see what the future holds!

I remember pitchin a bitch at the Widener boys when the case price went up to $100.. 👴

Ed's in Vass... awesome ppl , doin their best to hold the line against price increases... Hit 1 and head toward Southern Pines and it'll be on your right. They have a facebook page and you can see what they have in stock. If you call first and ask nicely they'll squirrel away your order behind the counter, but be sure you get there the same day to pick up.
