Very interesting, have not seen those before! There are also 9mm mags that are in the form of AR mags
I'd skip Diamonback anything.
I'd vote for the Extar from experience and I've heard good things about CMMG, so I'd consider one if I had the budget for it. (Personally I would build my own at this point with focus on the feed cone area.)
I have an Extar and I'm contemplating selling it because my wife doesn't like shooting it. (She has long arms being just about 6' tall and she doesn't like the short 6.5" barrel. The weight is great though and the felt recoil isn't bad at all.) Home and yard defense is one reason I chose the Extar. It has never had a problem feeding which can be an issue with 9mm AR platforms. I just have or want other firearms and being a "pistol" it isn't allowed in competitions as much, which is what I'm more into now.
The newer version of the Extar EP9 does have a nicer hand guard and a better buffer retainer. I think they raised the price though.
My cheapo slapped together colt pattern mag block and PSA upper runs like a champ.Reliable and AR9 are not two words that belong in the same phrase.
I have yet to find one that would not slam fire.
I feel you on the size, it is tiny. An asset and liability.
It isnāt as bad with a suppressor, but I have to very careful when Iām shooting with just the flash can because I like to get my hand out as far as I can.
Iām thinking about getting one of the fake suppressor reversible things that is sold by a forum vendor just to push that danger zone out a bit.
ā¦..as for reliability mine has been 100% perfect. Iāve only ever tried ball and flat point but Iād use it in a heart beat as a defensive tool.
I shot a PSA 9mm AR in various matches for 3 years - worked well . I did have an issue , sent the rifle back and PSA installed a new bolt ( I had an early production AR9 ) . I wouldnāt be afraid to buy thatJust saw this in a PSA email. Anybody have any experience with one?

ARV9 is a sweet setupIām trying to compare with this one. Costs more but does have the better brace and LRBHO.
not trying to stir the pot here, but, i have 6 different ar9's. tens of thousands of rounds fired. never had a slam fire. millions of these rifles have been sold.Reliable and AR9 are not two words that belong in the same phrase.
I have yet to find one that would not slam fire.
Plus, with a CHP, an AR pistol can legally be concealed in a vehicle. šA pistol is a much better option for "home" defense. I found this out after training with groups like Apex Defense & Central Texas Combatives Group. Now a short shouldered gun is great if you are shooting across the yard or dont care about what/ who is behind your intruder or dont need to have a free hand to grab/guide your kids, open doors, hold on to your dog, hold the phone while dialing 911, use a flash light that isn't pointing a gun at your teenager coming in at 2am etc.
I have an early production JRC 9mm. It had some timing issues so I sent it back to the manufacturer and they replaced the bolt and did some work on the feed ramp. It has been flawless since.Made in New York State!
