Lowes lays off 120 IT workers. Hires India

Profits must go up! Even if that means crapping on the people who helped get you where you are today!

Unless Lowe's continues to provide a dividend to it's stock holders the stock will tank and Lowe's will be gone all together.
Which would you prefer, outsourcing/eliminating some jobs to save money or folding up and going away??

Lowe's lost their focus on the customer when they moved to the Mooresville area HQ. The focus of most American companies have become more about paying a super star CEO more than he or she is worth. If you're not a 20 something, they are not going to hire you at HQ, no matter what you are capable of.

The lumber products they carry now are not that great at the price point.

Maybe hire someone that can figure out why you aren't doing well and make you do well? Gutting your work force is a stop gap at best. Obviously Amazon has figured out what works. Maybe the lowes web presences is crap because the wrong people are making the decisions. IT folk don't make the decisions. But, maybe if a company were to say, listen to their customers and their employees more they might make something happen. I say if they have to cut costs this much, it';s time for new leadership.

If I owned a butt load of Lowes stock I would be asking those questions at the next meeting.

Yawn. Happened last year at the end of September. Ask me how I know. I just had my performance reveiw the day before and it was great. The next day it was the boot under the " It's just business" horse shit. THey told us 6 months before that that our jobs weren't leaving. LMAO thats exactly what it did.

I was part of it. Actually I was the first one out of all they did last year. when they went on the layoff spree.

Everyone preaches how great it is to work for Lowe's. It is, with good pay and benefits. But the fact you will loose your job or whatever reason your fault or not, doesn't make it worth working there.

My wife has a customer that works on the customer care side. He told her that hold times for IT is almost a hour. Before they laid people off last year it was under 10 minutes.

Guess what, Not My F$cking Problem for their customers or employees. They wonder why Home Depot does better than them.

Though give it a couple years, they will go on a massive hiring spree and then a couple years after that they will lay them all off.

Rinse and repeat

Oh, the stories like this one I could tell... some of us Alumni should get together and write a book... "of what NOT to do". Niblock is the new Nardelli...

When a company turns its focus from its customers to its stock holders, becomes a race to the bottom. How much profit can we squeeze out of it before we kill it.

Kmart, Remington, etc.
Remington hurt me. Dont forget sears.

Why is this in the Movies and TV subforum?

If you own a single share of company stock, you can attend the shareholder meeting and ask questions.

Maybe lowes should also move their customer service to India too...can't be worse to what they have right now.

Last time I was in a Lowes it was filthy, disorganized, and a complete mess with the products I wanted all out of stock. Needless to say, I don't plan to return.

Section also includes "Media"...and he read it online. Duh. :p

(I wondered the same thing, and have almost moved it a couple times)

I hope everyone here who is complaining about this is also on board with a total immigration moratorium. Bringing in cheap labor to displace existing American labor is arguably worse than hiring workers abroad - at least the latter cannot vote to gut the US Constitution.
