Luke Perry died today...

Really? How old are you? Unless you were already a codger in the 90's the guy was a TV icon.
Some folks live under a rock and have so since the 1960s.

Hell, I made a Matthew Perry joke last week, and got him confused with Luke, and a girl called me out on it... a 15 year old lol

Fiftytwo is super young, that's wild.

Some people know full well who it is but want to advertise just how cool they are by touting ignorance.

Not just this thread either. You can count on any thread about a person and someone will throw out the same line.
That is way too young to check out.

In his defense not knowing popular culture should be considered a valuble trait. For the most part pop culture is only becoming kower quality and making us dumber and dumber. :p

The guy was on 90210 for chrissake.
The soap opera of my college years. I still remember sitting in the bedroom of the upstairs of a house I shared with Sofie (random girl that was willing to rent a second bedroom to me and share a kitchen and bathroom), watching it on my 13” tv.

If I remember right, in 2008 and 2012 he was a very in your face Obama supporter. One of those "I'm an important famous person, so you must listen to me" types. Doing campus tours, campaigning for Obama. I'm not a fan-boy for any famous people, another one of the enemy down.

This Irish Protestant is on his death bed and he asks to have the local catholic priest visit him. The priest visits and he asks to be converted to Catholicism, and the priest obliges his request. Upon hearing of this, the village Protestant minister gets very angry and pays him a visit, asking him what he could possibly be thinking. The drying man replies, "if someone's got to die, would you rather it be one of them, or one of us?"

While I have heard his name, I couldn't tell you a single thing he had done. 52 is scary young. Ruan is 54 and so far surviving in good stead from a massive heart attack on 1-1. He was here yesterday and driving his own vehicle. Usually when folks come through something like this , the sky is bluer and the air sweeter and they really Live for awhile. Us being humans, this soon passes and we are back to the Grind. Not Me!! 3 time cancer survivor and spending every day like a cheap nickel.

I really gained respect for him after seeing 8 Seconds. I thought he did a good job. Anybody who rides a bull has my respect!

Interesting article here:
https://www.kwtx.com/content/news/Bull-Rider-who-taught-Luke-Perry-in-8-Seconds-says--506694041.html

"The day after the movie wrapped, Leffew says they took Perry to ride a bull in Boerne, Texas, and he nailed it.

"I was sweating bullets, I was really amazed, I was hoping he'd go three or four good jumps, but I didn't think he'd finish the way he did," said Leffew. "He did everything identical to Lane Frost including riding the bull and making a beautiful ride, stepped off perfectly on his feet - which is hard for a lot of guys to do, even seasoned pros - did that little signature wave of Lane Frosts, and people went crazy!"

Leffew said it was almost like Lane's spirit took over and guided Perry.

"You would have thought Lane Frost came out of the grave and rode the bull for him, it was that incredible," said Leffew. "Everyone was blown away because everybody told me 'no way is this actor going to be able to stay on a bull.'"

There's a movie with Ashley Judd and Perry called Normal Life where he plays a cop turned bank robber. Pretty good stuff from them back in the mid 90s.

One more thing and I'll shut up about this poor lad.Insofar as his acting prowess. I once heard Jerry Seinfeld say:
Actors deserve not one whit of respect. Somebody dresses them, makes them up, writes their lines, tells them how to say the lines, and if they mess up they just Do It Again. A comic dresses themselves, writes their own material and stands on a stage totally alone and lives or dies on his own performance.
I always remember this when somebody is carrying on about what a great Talent some actor is.
Shakespeare said..An actress is something more than a woman, an actor is something less than a man...……...still sorry he died so young.

That's sad. He should have and could had played better roles than he did. Good actor.

I thought he was good in that show Jeremiah.
