My minimum is 10 per pistol, 15 per rifle, in the case of any gun that holds over 10 rounds.

After I meet the min, I buy 1 or 2 mags for one of the guns every time I go into a gun shop or place an online order.

I don't have any dreams of a SHTF situation in which I'll need dozens of mags...but I haven't forgot what the price of mags were like during the last AWB either.

My minimum for pistols is 8 (because I have mag holder that holds 8)

I am more worried about pistol mags than rifle mags because I shoot a lot more pistol than rifle and they tend to get dropped on the ground and abused more than my rifle mags.

In the next few months I plan on getting some factory fresh mags for my pistols and stashing them so that I have enough mags to always shoot the pistols in the safe.

If you have too many mags you need to change your mindset. In reality you can’t ever have too many mags. You don't have enough different locations to store mags. Do you have a few mags in the garage, shed, workshop, bug out bag, get home bag, vehicle, family/friends location, hidden in case your house is visited by .Gov, bug out location, off site resupply? Imho
