Marine Corps recruiting hitting goal

The branch that asks the most has the best recruiting.

This also happens to religious denominations, or the Boy Scouts, when they try to go with the slouch of today's culture rather than remain true to their heritage and historical doctrine.

I personally know of three new recruits (from two weeks ago to two weeks from now going to MEPS) to the Marines
Good they're staying fully staffed

Seems they're still a bit less PC than the other branches. And every Marine wants you to know that.
The kid that lived next door to my old house grew up to join. He was always a little right wing... he recently told me he's started attending conservative church specifically to find women that aren't liberal crazy. His only problem is that most of them are overweight, but he tries to get them slimmer. "They already found God, now they need to find the gym"
So much for body positivity and acceptance of LGBTQIA2S+ among the youth...

I almost joined the Marines, but I would’ve just punched the DI first time he got in my face.

I think many say that...before they get there. I've only heard it happen once, and the big recruit wound up at Beauford Naval Hospital for a spell, then corrective custody for even longer. After that, not sure.

It has been a little bit since I have worked with Marines but I always felt they did a better job with public relations. Marines always seemed up to do "military" things like shooting, PT, field exercises and things like that. Over the last couple years, the new privates that have fallen under me in the Army seemed shocked that they are expected to do the same things. "But I am a (insert MOS) why do I need to know how to shoot, provide first aid, or establish a fighting position?" Is a pretty common thing to hear.

The PC culture in most of the other branches is a lot worse too compared to the Marines from my experiences.

I had the same observation. I was a Navy intel officer and I worked with a lot of Marines (I know, Marines and intelligence...) My Navy guys sometimes thought of themselves first as intel guys, or computer guys, and that military stuff was just secondary to the job. But the Marines were always Marines first. Sometimes I'd ask one of the Marines where the Staff Seargent was this week, and they'd say he was at the range. His daily job was to run a typewriter, but every Marine prioritized how to shoot and do Marine things, no matter what their specialty was.

“Every Marine is a rifleman” is a powerful ethos to young men looking to be men. Just one of many things the Corps gets right in that regard.

My dad spent 21 years in the Marines, most of those and intelligence (0239, Intel Chief). He had three tours in Vietnam and although his MOS was intelligence, he also participated on patrols. He would have told you he was very much Marine.

Regarding Marines and recruiting and PR, My favorite recruiter story: when I was in high school the recruiters came to do their dog and pony show. The Marines went last. All the other branches talked about how much money you can make in bonuses, skills, travel, etc.

The marine recruiter, he had a pair of boots in his hands. He walked down the aisle to the stage in the auditorium and put them on the stage, all he said was, "If you think you're man or woman enough to fill those, come see me." And he walked off. He had the most people at his booth.
