Comms guys are smart. I always picked on them good-naturedly, called them 'nerds,' but they were the smartest guys in the platoon. Now that they are more than 'just RTOs', they are really smart.

Mike Rowe show on the other night doing voice overs about the army. Live fire exercises in or near Fort Carson. Radio humvee with lots of antennae and gear. They couldnt get it to work right but they got some of it to work. Never said whether part of drill or not, 155 howitzer battery firing with electronic fire control relayed via RF, goes down and they have to lay the gun manually and score hits on target. Pretty cool show except for all the commercials. All that RF stuff is pretty hairy. Again whether real or not, lots of those documentaries about Afghanastan, Iraq, Blackhawk down etc., coms go down at exactly the wrong time. Murphy's law.
