Talked to a guy at Jim's in Fayetteville, and he said he has LOTS of guns to rent, including, yes, CZs! You can imagine my happiness at this, seeing how sexy I think they are from the pics I've seen. I'm also going to get an instructor and get more in depth than I was able to go in the CC class. They'll have their person call me. This is a good start, right?
Except now I have to wait for a MAN to call!!!! How high school is that? (Or could be a woman!)
I'd drive to Fayetteville to shoot a CZ, wouldn't you?

EDIT... ok now that I'm going to shoot some guns give me 4 that I HAVE to try. Remembering the criteria of biggish, heavy, won't be my CC, preferably 9mm. He said $9 to rent, I'm assuming per gun, so four... Let me have it!
THanks!

YES!

But only if I lived across the street. :D
Yeah, I'm not a fan of Fayetteville. But sometimes you have to go there for stuff....it's the closest to my house.

I can't imagine going to Fayettevile voluntarily for anything.

Enjoy your outing! A range report and pics would be cool.
Sometimes you just have to put on your big girl panties and go to Fayetteville! Lol.
If I can, I'll do pics, but only if the instructor is cool with it.

Having trouble finding mine so I believe I'll stay home. ;)

I, personally, would not drive to Fayetteville to shoot a CZ.
Of course, I live about three hours from there. That said, I wouldnt drive 40 minutes to shoot one either.
But I hope it's everything youre hoping for.

Oh, and since youre asking, you seem to be so set on CZ, you'll get one barring anything terrible happening at the range. But I'd say to check out a Beretta 92 if you can, as well as a HK VP9.
Those are just amazing guns, love shooting them both more than my others or others I've fired.

OR
since you did ask about a 9mm pistol... SP5k lol

Definitely check their rental policy. Based on my experience around here there's good news & bad news.

Good - one rental fee covers anything of the same caliber, so you could shoot multiple handguns for the single $9 fee
Bad - you have to buy their ammo, which is sometimes way overpriced

If you want to shoot the most accurate CZ out there shoot a P-09, they are unbelievably accurate for a poly service grade weapon. For a carry gun you may want to try a P-10C. Definitely shoot a traditional steel 75 just for the experience and if they have a compact model try that too.

He said $11 for 9mm, but not how many rounds.

Are you a CZ hater?!
in the end, all these guns are going to have to pass my test: does it fit my hand, can I work the parts, can I shoot it without hurting myself, and is it in budget! Lol. I love the looks of the CZs, but I'm pretty sure i can't afford one, but I'd still like to try one out.

I'll put them on the loooong list...lol. Thanks!

Try an SP-01 and a CZ-75 if possible.

Unless they have a Shadow 2, then try that as well.
The range guy said he has a lot of different guns, so....
This is going to be fun!

Someone would have to be giving me a gun for free to voluntarily go there. I Grew up in Fayetteville, and if I never step foot in that city again it will be just fine with me.

Nobody wants to go there! I got lost there really early in the morning last fall, foggy, dark, trying to find where my CC class was being held. Didn't enjoy that. LOL. But I need to try out some guns, what can I do? Don't really want to drive a couple of hours if I don't have to.

weeding out the plastic because you said heavy...
1) CZ somethingoranother
2) Any 9mm 1911
3) Beretta 92(any)
4) Sig P226, P228, P229 or M11-A1
5) Glock 19 or 17 (I know, but do it anyhow)

CZ 75 series, P09 0r 07, P10c
Glock
Springfield XD
Walther CCP
Ruger Security 9 (not full size, but still double stack capacity
Taurus PT111 G2 (not full size but same capacity as G26)

When trying the different guns, look for your natural point of aim. Grab the gun in your strong hand with index finger forward/out of the trigger guard, pick a spot @ 10ā€™+ away, bring your hands together and point at the spot, THEN look to see where your sights are.
Glock, CZ & H&K are dead on, at 20ā€™ 1911ā€™s and S&Wā€™s are 2ā€™+ low for me.
Try
- CZ
- Glock 17
- H&K VP9

Have fun!

No, I just dont see myself making a special trip for a non-special gun.
Like, if I had the chance to shoot a REAL MP5, I'd gladly drive an hour away Thats a special gun. Same for a Barret 50BMG. etc
The one's youre talking about - eh.

The Barret is the big honkin' one the Mythbusters shot into a swimming pool right? That was excellent!

Glock is on the short list, not to worry.

You'd be surprised. I did not pay over $550 for any stock CZ I own brand new. I have several used ones in great condition for $450-$475.
They are very affordable.

Beretta 92fs
1911 in 45acp
Smith and wesson 5906

Any of those 3 would exceed your stated requirements by miles. No need to name a 4th, but if you insist on a 4th, it would most likely be the cz 75.

40 ounces - Rock Island 1911 GI Standard 9mm
34 ounces - Beretta 92FS
34 ounces - CZ-75B
32 ounces - SIG P226

38 ounces - S&W 5906 - discontinued years ago, but was nearly the police standard in its days and tons of used guns are available in excellent condition for modest prices

Millie, 1st tell them you are a member of the CFF and that we are all waiting to see how you are treated and what deals they have. Can't hurt??
If they ever call back like they said they would, and I get an instructor and set up a time, I will!!! Lol. Don't know why, but when someone says they'll get an instructor to call, I actually think one WILL call in a reasonable amount of time! Like the same day I asked for them to call! I must be the most unreasonable person in the universe! Lol.
But I'll mention this forum, and see what happens!

The SP-01 was the gun that changed me. I shot it years ago and immediately went out to buy one (had to wait about 6 months as they were nowhere to be found). The ergos of that gun make it the softest, easiest shooting 9mm Iā€™ve ever handled. Now I have a Shadow 2 which is the tricked out version. But for home defense? SP-01 canā€™t be beat.

Standard comes with a manual safety (cocked and locked), the Tactical version comes with a decocker.

Is SP-01 the standard of the P-01? P-01 was already on my list from some members here.

Perspective on some of the models mentioned:

28.1 ounces - P-01
27.5 ounces - PCR
40.7 ounces - SP-01
46.5 ounces - Shadow 2

How does the P-01 weigh less than the PCR? They are pretty much the same thing except for the rail. I would have thought that the rail would be heavier?

I changed the weights to reflect exactly what is shown on CZ's website (which is now linked) rather than the comparison website I previously cited.

Well, I mentioned it in your other thread..but you really should try a S&W Model 10 38spl with 4" barrel. It really is an all-time great, and even with all of our personal preferences no-one here would dispute that.
I would also recommend trying a Walther PPQ in 9mm.

Regardless, have fun with it and don't feel rushed into a purchase. Take some time and try out lots of them.
Obviously you don't have a problem asking lots of questions. :D That's a good thing. Also, if you don't like the person they have assist you, ask for another. Some of these gun store guys are either real proud of themselves or just plain burned out. Remember, you are under no obligation to beg anyone to take your money. If you're uncomfortable in any way, stop.

I do ask lotsa questions, don't I? Lol. But that gets me information, which is what I need.
