"Can I still own an assault rifle?
Yes, but you can’t buy them any more. And you have to register the ones you have.

In 2016, California’s already-tough gun laws got tougher when lawmakers passed a bill that sought to ban the sale of guns with so-called “bullet buttons” that gun-control activists said circumvented a law banning assault weapons. California now defines an “assault weapon” as any semi-automatic, centerfire rifle or semi-automatic pistol that lacks a fixed magazine and has one of a number of features that include a protruding pistol grip or a folding or telescoping stock."

@Jayne you escaped just in time

"Can I buy ammunition online or from a catalog?
Yes, but you can’t ship it to your home any more starting Jan. 1. You can still buy online or from a catalog, but you now have to ship ammunition first to a licensed vendor who can charge you a processing fee."

Does that direct-mail ban apply to “reloading” supplies such as bare bullets and empty cartridges?
No. The regulations on mail order sales don’t address unassembled ammunition parts bought by those who make their own.

Will I have to undergo a background check to buy ammunition?
Not in 2018. While you will have to go through a licensed dealer to transfer or buy ammo in California starting Jan. 1, background checks won’t start until July 2019.

You can still vote too, as long as you pay the fee. It's just common sense.

Unreal.
Who in there right mind comes up with this stuff out there?
Most in their right minds have already escaped.

California State Senate President Pro Tem Kevin De Léon (D-Los Angeles) said last Tuesday that “half his family” was in the country illegally, using false documents, and eligible for deportation under President Trump’s new executive order against “sanctuary” jurisdictions.

To answer your question, Sen Harris, then Cal Atty Gen. And she will be running for President in four years. God help us all.

she scares the crap out of me. not just her ideology, but that i think she could win.

a young, mixed race, female hardcore liberal - shes every collegiate snowflake's wet dream.

Won't prevent Jihadis or Illegals from renting trucks and smashing into a festival or 3, and all those millions of guns and billions of rounds already in California are STILL THERE.

So about ordering ammo online, do they expect the USPS to notify them of shipments? Seems entirely unenforceable to me.

What if we just start picking high profile liberals and start shipping ammo to them? Not illegal where we are to mail ammo, and do they break the law just by getting a box? This has potential to be great fun, well worth a few boxes of ammo.

Glad I don't live in CA....I'd have to institute the "free men do free sh*t" rule.

- Own whatever semi-automatic rifle I want, with whatever features I desire...and yeah; ain't registering a damn thing. F' the state.

- Cross the state border to obtain ammo.

"You have to / You will have to" tends to further solidify the rebellious spirit of free folks.

Any cop worth their salt will refuse to enforce those laws. "But, but; it's the law, they don't have a...."

BS. There is always a choice.

Man, growing up in the Sierra foothills in the 70's, everyone had guns. Even the hippies!
The only difference in country culture was there was weed instead of moonshine. We gigged frogs, caught bass, hunted deer, etc.
still millions and millions of people like that.
Reagan was Govener!
Actually more people like that there than there is here. They are still outnumbered. 80's and 90's it was inundated with lefties moving in and moving the whole political scale far left.

The Marxists got a foothold in Berkeley and Hollywood and the rest is history. Spread from there like cancer.

This is coming to your state soon y'all. They've got a decent foothold here already. I saw it happen in my home state and I see it happening here. Don't take for granted anything you have and fight tooth and nail to keep it!!

Up to and including the police who will enforce such laws?

Or are you talking about figurative tooth and nail?

Looks like they may start leaning on the online retailers. This is from Outdoorlimited.com's site.
  • Attention California Customers - Beginning 1/1/18 We will require a copy of your CA Ammunition Eligibility Certificate or FFL to ship to CA. We will accept orders normally to California customers until midnight PST 12/31/17.

Unreal.
Who in there right mind comes up with this stuff out there?

The same people who are cool with illegals. The same people who hate the police but want the police to be the only armed entity out there. The people calling out “fascist” while suppressing others free speech. The people who support homosexuality and Islam at the same time (yeah go figure). The same people who want freedom of religion (except Christianity). The same people who want to ban a barrel shroud but think it’s the “shoulder thing that goes up”. Those people .

I love how State Senator De Leon is worried that half his family could possibly be deported "without due process " when neither he nor half his family didn't give a damn about "due process" when breaking the law to get here in the first place.

CA RULERS know it will be years before any challenge gets to SCOTUS. And someone has to volunteer to become a legal guinea pig to create the case. They know that the 9th Circus doesn't give a crap about the constitution. And they are hoping Trump is gone and the Clintons use their hit squads to Pelican a bunch of conservative judges so the court can be packed with anti-constitutional liberals that are like Kegger and SodomyOr.
