My 1996 Suzuki Bandit is starting to show it's age and I am itching for a new bike. I prefer naked bikes and really want a KTM Duke or something similar.
Give me about 150 miles in the Mountians is a perfect ride for me.
Every time I've been to the Dragon I got passed lol. Me and some guys from work used to go once a year.Watched a guy send his over the side of the mountain at deals gap after he passed me on a double yellow line since I wasn't going fast enough for him. There wasn't much left from what we could tell. Rider was beat up but didn't follow the bike over the side of the mountain either, so that's good...
good gosh man, how long does that take?150 miles! I ride that far on my bicycle in one day!
Once was enough for me. There's plenty of nicer roads to tour around out there and not have to feel like you're going to be killed every 3.2 secondsEvery time I've been to the Dragon I got passed lol. Me and some guys from work used to go once a year.

Wow. CrazyI was coming north on I85 in Mt Holly today on my bike. I saw a bike on the side of the road. I hit my flashers and pulled over to see if he needed any help. He looked at me like I was crazy and said, "No, I just stopped to use my phone." WTF! Who stops on the emergency lane to make a phone call? The McAdenville exit was in sight. Moron kid on a slammed and stretched 'Busa.
Wow. Crazy
I've stopped under an overpass before, but only with LOTS of room on the side before the road.
This makes me miss my '85 Vmax.My transportation to work today. No way I could leave Mr. Max sitting all alone in the garage on such a beautiful day today.

Had a 2009 XB12Ss. Loved it. But sold it to fund the build on my Rubicon. And I have degenerative osteoarthritis in my tail bone that made is painful to ride a skinny seat more than 30 minutes.2006 XB12 Lightening Long Ss. I am having withdrawals since I haven't ridden her in a couple months.
Though once warm weather gets her she is going to be ridden like a dirty whore
Edit- hmm Photobucket and the site aren't playing nice
Photobucket ruined this post.My current and last bike except it now has a Rinehart exhaust system on it. I have been underwhelmed with this bike since the day I brought it home.
This is the bike that I foolishly got rid of to get the current bike. 2004, I bought it new and put 78,000 miles on it. I liked it a lot, I still don't know why I got rid of it.
Here's the wife and I coming down I-81 in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia on the way back home after going to Rolling Thunder in Washington, DC. I'm not sure of the year, we went 3 years in a row.
Here is a photo from Laurel Springs, NC. I'm sure that some of you know where this is.
I have owned many other motorcycles over the years, almost every make except for a Kawasaki. I always liked Kawasakis, just never owned one. I've spent 47 years of riding and had some scrapes and beats and bangs but never anything serious. With aches, pains, and stiffness in my joints, it ain't nearly as much fun as it used to be.
I'm most likely picking up a KLR this week. A buddy of mine has a Yamaha dual sport and wants someone to blast around dirt/gravel roads out in western NC with. Haven't ridden in many years but way looking forward to it.My favorite bike of all time, my beater KLR650. Had 44k miles on it at the time of the crash. This pic is from it's last ride, dad and I touring up to Shasta. About 3 hours after this picture was taken dad would be crashing that brand new (~750 miles on it) Tiger 1050 into the back of my stationary KLR. Ouch.
The extra fuel on the KLR is actually for dad's bike. That IMS tank on the KLR held 6.5 gallons and I was getting 55mpg even at altitude with the carb. Seemed like the Triumph's fuel light was always on.
The replacement is a Vstrom650. Super happy with this bike, hasn't left me stranded nearly as many times as the KLR did, but it's got ABS and that's something I won't live without anymore. Only 55k on this bike, but since I changed jobs 4 years ago (and moved to NC) I don't commute on the bike every day like I used to.
My kind of bike. Hope to see you out there sometime. Prepare yourself for milk crate jokes though.I'm most likely picking up a KLR this week. Everything I read/watch about the KLR 650 is perfectly in line with what I want. Yes it's a compromise, excels at nothing but does everything, and at my age I don't need extreme capabilities.
I think I may have posted this here before but I think it's hilarious, mostly since my bike is the clean one in the back.I'm most likely picking up a KLR this week.
