Motorcycle love

Got this from work. It’s actually pretty fun to scoot around town and backroads. It will run 50 on the flats and doesn’t have any problem with 45 on most hills I’ve encountered so far. Owner of the dealership gave it to me for something like a bonus for some extra work and hours I’ve put in getting things going.

Is it electric? How long will it run on a charge if it is?

Leather gloves...
I have a pair of these HD and they fit well...had one pair blow out and replaced them. Did have some stitching come out of one finger but was able to fix them. Anyone have a lead on the real manufacturer or know of some close to this?
There’s some deerskin gloves I found on Amazon last year I really like, but it looks like they don’t have them anymore and don’t know when they’ll get any more.

Pushed the Ole girl a little too hard coming back from Daytona on 95..tappet cover gasket was the weak point. Blew oil everywhere.. but the Lord has a sense of humor and I broke down right down at South of the Border 15 mins from family.

Finally got a chance to tear it down and nothing is tore up thankfully. But the bike hasn't been apart in 29 years. Gonna take me 29 more to get all the oil off this thing

I have a couple pair from Odinmfg.com that i like. Magnets in the cuff so they stick to the tank. You can also sneak your index or thumb tip out to control a touch screen without taking them off.

well would you look at the brake cables on that thing ? Spares maybe ?

Not the greatest pic - but I’m super happy. I went with the Onyx Pearl

That is soooo nice.

I never used to like white. Now everything looks better to me in white. Esp with a bit of pearl in it.

Really the only thing that seat accomplishes is it sits higher, and is sprung. My last two Mustang Super Tour solo seats had a better backrest that is adjustable on the fly, and they are the same 17” width as the police seat.

I know Mike don't care, but wearing cop badges on the tank? Is that considered to be impersonating a Police officer?
His was a legit CHP bike. I don’t think there’s any mistaking his is not in police duty now.

I’ve looked at every tank badge imaginable for mine. 99% of the police bikes that were never in police duty run a “naked” tank.

I’ve seen a few guys run these CVO tank badges, and I think it looks good, but it’s just not me. It’s a little bit like running a Mercedes hood ornament on a Ford Granada.

They are available in chrome or black.

Man, that's what Kelly is wanting now. Also, love the red, that's the color she prefers. Those things are cool, and they have all kinds of aftermarket stuff for them. If you ever want to sell it, please let me know, as I'm looking to get one this season.

Alright, looks like this weekend is a go for the South East Mini Moto race on the Grom. Weather should be perfect, and I'm ready to get out there and dice it up. Got the Grom all ready, put a new plug in, and Go Pro batteries charged. Gonna try and video the whole race if it last long enough. We have two qualifying sessions, a 10 lap heat race, and a 15 lap main event. I'm gonna be in a class with only Grom's, Z-125's, Monkey's, and Grom clones. I think the Benelli 135's are allowed in that class also. Hopefully I will do well out there. If I can finish top 5, I'd be ok with that, but obviously would like to do better.

I worked on my starts last weekend, starting with my left foot already under the shift lever, as with the gearing on it, it doesn't go far in first before hitting the limiter, so I need to be able to shift quick. The start will be so important, being we all will be pretty equal power wise, and the start and banzai corner speed will be the name of the game. I'm also gonna try and run as little gas as possible. Fun times ahead, lol.

Has it got enough beans to start in second? Might cost you a clutch job but racin’ is racin’

"Looking on Amazon as to how fast I can get clutch plates and springs, lol"
Yep, got a set of EBC plates and 15% over springs on the way, be here Thursday.
I'll try it a couple times in the driveway and see how she does in 2nd gear. Maybe if I bounce it off the rev limiter and quickly slip the clutch out she'll take it.
Will be trying Friday, haha.

At this level, its all power to weight ratio. Run as little gas as possible, don't eat for2 days and use a laxative the day before. My Grom friend here agrees that 1st gear is about useless and second is the way to go and thinks the new updated clutch parts will help out a lot.

Lol, I'm not gonna go THAT far.......I don't think, haha. My gearing is super close right now, as I dropped 1 in the front, and went up 3 on the back. It's almost perfect on the kart track. I'm gonna be practicing 2nd gear starts tomorrow, so we'll see. Clutch and springs came in today, so I'll be on that too.

I'm already planning on running as little gas as possible. I'm going in early to do the track day before the race, so I'm gonna do a race simulation, 15 laps, and see how little I can get away with. I've taken about everything off of the bike I can for weight, and I'm at a svelt 155 right now, lol.

So @Lager , I keep thinking about these ’61-'62 tank badges. They are quite popular, and they show up a lot added to newer bikes (than ’61’62), but most HD “enthusiasts” will say, that’s on a new bike.

I do think they look very good on this 2002 police bike. They would not have come on it. I just don’t want to put something on there that says I “tried, and couldn’t”.

ETA: And upon further examination, I think as long as I’m running a police box on back, and a backrest, it will probably look better to keep the tank “leo-centric"

Let me start by saying I'm not a rider. Not that I haven't tryed over and over and over again. Motors and 2 wheels just doesn't work for me and I've wrecked every 2 wheeled motorized transport I've ever got on. Scooters, dirt bikes, motorcycles I've wrecked on all of them. But I do love seeing some nice bikes. Have some friends who ride and my dad has been riding since he was a kid. My left thumb is still out of socket and jacked up from last time I tryed riding. I saved a 1981 Honda XL125S from the junkyard got it running and took off across the yard throttle stuck once I hit 3rd gear and it slammed me hard then started spinning around on its side with me trapped under it trying kick away from it. My left hand got pulled into frame by back tire and busted it up pretty good in the process of trying get free. So I love chekcing out other people's motorcycles but have finally realized riding is probably not for me 🤣 I'll get some pics of the 81 Honda xl125s to show here. I kept it cause I still didn't want to see it junked. Maybe one of you bikers need another cool project.

Whose seat brackets will these fit?
Im no super knowledgeable bike guy like you fellas. Both of those seats was bought with the brackets and hardware. They was 65 dollar vinyl seats. I stripped the vinyl off did a little shaving and fitting to the foam and recovered front and back in leather with some custom carving/tooling and hand painted. I'll get the Yosemite Sam seat out of storage box tomorrow and get some pics of the bracket and springs and stuff that come with it.

I’m guessing they’ll fit a Softail, which I don’t have, but I had looked at solo seats for a smaller bike like that and was just curious.
