I was a cold-war soldier and the only shots I heard that weren't on the range were those from German hunters in the nearby woods near the Kaserne in Germany.
My older son spent nine years in the CAARNG and deployed three times, once to Iraq. In Iraq he was an E5 vehicle commander with the 1/160th INF that escorted convoys from Kuwait throughout Iraq. It was hard for me to imagine my little boy now at war. While he was there, he told us that it was quiet and nothing ever happened. I've since learned that wasn't the case.
He made a couple you tube videos of his time there, which this is one of them. You tube took his original effort down, so he deleted some images and reposted it.
We are eternally grateful that he came home alive and whole.
