My 10 year old printer just bit the dust. Need a new one. Any recommendations for a mid-priced printer that can scan, and print off WIFI?

My desktop is also on its last megabyte so that's next. I figgin hate to go to windows 10.

Epson or HP. Check those restaurant discount books the school kids sell for fundraising,
Office Depot coupons are accepted at Staples for discount when you need more ink.

I've had Canon, Epson and HP over the years and keep coming back to HPs. Currently I have an HP Envy 5000 series that feels a little chintzy but prints nicely. Printers have become disposable commodity items.
I'm doing the HP ink service for a couple bucks a month and they automagically send me replacement cartridges before I run out.

wife is a teacher and have kids in school we have had a Brother black and white laser printer for years now it has been reliable and cheaper than any inkjet

We run a black and white Wifi connected Brother Printer. It is much cheaper than an inkjet and 99% of our printing is black and white.

I’ll second @vaskeet ive got an old brother B&W laser that is still going strong. Bought a newer model for my wife’s shop and it scans, faxes, prints, and is connected via wifi. Consumer grade HP is junk and is like the Gillette of printers.

Saw a HP LaserJet at Walmart for $35 2 days ago!!! It only did black printing....most printer paper is white...so...lol

I added a second printer with default set to black only. Saves lot of color inks. Can't do that anymore.

Man, I have burned through a lot of printers. Over 20 since 1994, and that includes inkjet, b&w lasers, and color lasers.

The current state of the industry can be generalized as follows, I think:

  • Best color image quality is a good inkjet.
  • Best text quality is a b&w laser.
  • Cheapest per page for text is a b&w laser.
  • Cheapest per page for color has been completely upended by the new "tank" style inkjets. They offer a price per page close to laser, with the image quality of an inkjet.

When I upgraded a few months ago, I went with a tank inkjet. For home use where you print a lot, tank inkjets combine the best of both worlds.

I have had good luck with my cannon but it burns threw ink cartridges. Dad and brother bought epsons with the ink tank and have raved about them. They had other ones with cartridges before but said with the epson with ink tank they have rarely had to fill it compared to before.

My hp Office Jet Pro 8610 is great. Never used the scanner or fax functions. Connects to wifi. If I can work one anyone can.

How much do you print. That's kinda important

What @Jeppo said about the Epson I finally got one with the tank. We print ALOT and the tank level seems to never move.

Thanks for the input. Bought an Epson 2720 tank model this morning. AND, TO MY MISBELIEF, I actually was able to install it (so far successfully) all by myself.

Massive kudos to you! LOL. I have that same sense of wonder when I do something like that! Woooooo!

I bought the Rpson with liquid refill tanks. More expensive upfront but comes with all color and black which seems endless copies. I will never again have a cartridge unit. I spent the cost of this unit on ink every year. Endorsed by Shaq.

I’m almost a year into it and still enough ink for couple years.
