The bolt on my 2nd Gen SAA is contacting the cylinder too early, just outside the lead. I need a gunsmith who is familiar with the Colt SAA action to fix this. Someone within driving distance of Charlotte. Any recommedations?

Issues and potential causes

Bolt worn at tip of left leg.

Bolt left leg too short.

Bolt left leg low tension.

Bolt cam at base of hammer worn.

Its a colt. Find a gunsmith, not a hobbiest. Very fine fitting is required.

thanks for the info. I know a couple guys on the Colt forum who can do the work professionally, I just HATE to ship a gun there and back, especially these days. I bought several S&W's and a 1st gen SAA from Rock Island Auction Feb 6th, they got to Memphis and sat for weeks. The only way I got them was to call RIA and they spent half a day on the phone with post office employees looking for it. Seems missing firearms gets their attention. If it was something other than firearms, I would still be waiting. Again, thanks

He's a good man. Crazy schedule now at school with covid challenges but he will work with you for coming to town.

I mean the bolt always comes up a bit early. Are you sure you have an issue?

As a professional idiot with some SAAS you'd be surprised how much you can do with very little

Yes. But this is a Gen 2 Colt, not a baked spaghetti bowl at Fazoli's (Uberti :) ).
