Am shopping for a new optic ready concealed carry pistol and am interested in a Glock 19 sized pistol. I have a Glock 19, but want to retire it to the nightstand, instead of having the slide milled.

I want 9mm and have the Micro carry covered (Hellcat, which I shoot well). Am considering a CZ P-10c, a Shadow Systems MR920, a Lone Wolf LTD V1 and the M&P 2.0 compact.

I’d appreciate any insight y‘all have on any or all of my choices or any of your favorites I’m missing.

I have a P-01. It’s my profile picture. Don’t want to have it milled and prefer a striker pistol for CC.

If you're already accustomed to Glocks, I'd get another G19 and have it milled. The MOS system can have issues.

CZ P10cs, the M&P9c, and the FN 509c, all seem to be great optic hosts if you really want to try a different flavor.

The MR920 is effectively an improved Glock 19. It uses Glock magazines and internals for the most part. I'd recommend either a milled Glock 19 or an MR920.

Also, the optic mounting system on the Shadow Systems guns is awesome. It uses a shortened extractor spring so that you can full length screws into the slide.

You're welcome to shoot my MR920s if you happen to be a member of Woody's range. They're very tacticool, but will at least give you an idea.

thanks! I find myself leaning toward the MR 920. I assume you like them 😎. I moved here just two years ago so hadn’t heard of Woodys Range. Not a member but I’ll check it out. Appreciate the kind offer to try your pistols. I’ll pm you if I go further down that road, either to Woodys or SS.

I’m in Clayton and am a member at Woody’s. If you want to try out a PDP or 509, let me know. I don’t have compact versions of either but it will give you an idea on the platforms. Maybe we can combine it with @Gaston.

Thanks a lot! I’ll pm you as I sort all this out!

If you’re already a Glock guy and like your G19, get another G19 or clone milled.

I’m an M&P guy, have most of the 9mm variants and the 4” compact is my favorite all around shooter. But I find Glocks and M&P’s to have a very different feel in the hands.

Thanks...I'm not really a Glock guy. Have a Glock 19, but also have M&Ps -- original Shield 9, Shield 45 and M&P 5" CORE with a Vortex Venom.

I've carried all of those except the 5" as well as a Kimber Micro 9, a Kimber Ultra II in 45, etc.

Just looking to optimize around a carry optic pistol, and will then probably sell some more of my old stock.

Shields are more accurate and more compact than the S&W M&P 2.0. I have a 45 and a 9 Shield and they are great guns. THe MP2.0 I had was a turd and evidently that is not uncommon as the LGS where I traded it in on G19G5 was seeing a lot of them get traded in. Just my experience. YMMV.

Thanks for the input! I actually have those two...want to go optic ready due to old eyes.

I absolutely loved the ergos of my M&Ps, but seem to put rounds on targets better with 2x4’s, so now I’m a Glock guy! Seriously.

I’ve learned that how a gun and trigger feel to me standing in a gun store is no predictor of how well I will shoot it.

After much searching and hand wringing, I wound up buying this optic ready Shadow Systems MR920. It is Glock 19 size but lighter, and has the best trigger I've gfelt on a striker fired pistol out of the box, unfired. This one followed me home from a LGS. Takes Glock 19 mags and I have plenty. Need to clean and lube and get to the range!IMG_4836.jpeg

Congrats on the purchase! What optic are you planning to go with? I know an RMR will work with those stock raised irons, but Holosun also has some nice offerings.

Thanks to everyone here who commented or gave advice. I enjoy hanging around this group for the knowledge, experience and humor.

In the end I had narrowed it down to the Shadow Systems or the M&P compact. Local gun stores had both, and after some driving and comparing I decided on the Shadow Systems. I'll let you know more when I shoot it, but in the end the fact that it is what a perfect Glock would be with no aftermarket changes, and it takes G19 magazines, I was sold.
